| That's what I was thinking but it just shows the general lack of thought on the subject. I walk around the Slavery Museum we have in Liverpool and you see things like ornate lady's hand-whips and all sorts of torture devices and you see etchings of how people were treated etc... and it's just a bit of an insult to dismiss all that stuff.
And as for Germany, not, it's not the same because there's a completely different history there. Jews weren't kidnapped and shipped 3000 miles away to spend the rest of their lives getting beaten. I guess it's also different because what hapenned in Europe was the result of a whacked-out ideology and wasn't a sort of 'fact of life' thing like slavery was.
