So. I've had this really intense lower back pain for about a week now. And it makes me want to die. It hurt to walk all day today. And I have NO idea what it's from. My mom keeps insisting I just slept wrong, but it doesn't feel like that. It doesn't quite feel like sore muscles, either. It's just this unbearable fucking pain. Any ideas? I know I should go to the doctor, but I figured I'd ask around first.

i sometimes get pain like that. If it goes on, it shoots down my leg. My sister now has it as well, and the doctor she saw said it is sciatica (However that is spelt). My doctor said it was muscle spasm. Both my sister and I get it from sitting on a plane.

I find a heat pack helps ease the pain.

Heat will help, but try examining your lifestyle as well. There might be simple things that you're doing that are aggrivating your lower back. I had a problem with my lower back last year, and I figured out that the reason for it was that I would prop myself up on my bed laying on my stomach and work on my laptop...it was much more comfortable than sitting in my chair, so I figured why not. Turns out that a week after I stopped laying on my stomach to work on my laptop, the pain started getting better.

Basically, look at all the times where you're clenching your lower back muscles, and try to reduce those. If you have to bend over slightly to wash dishes, for instance, that could be a problem...there are others, I'm just saying what aggrivated me (further; weight lifting for track did a number on it).

If it keeps up, see a doctor...back pain sucks, and lower back pain is the worst.

Right now I'm literally in so much pain I can't sleep. It's absolutely ridiculous. I. Hurt. So. Much. I want to die.

Yes, Retro, I have huge tits. Do you really think that could be it?

Something like this happened to my brother's girlfriend during this summer, and I had to drive her to the hospital. She ended up having to go to two E.R.'s because of her insurance, but neither could really determine the problem. She couldn't sleep that night because the pain was so severe, though I think they just gave her some pain killers because there was no explanation as to why she was having such strong back pain (no strain accident, or injury at work or during the day). Eventually the pain went away, but she had it for a few weeks, and it just lessened over time.

She is a rather busty girl, and I have heard that women with larger breasts can have back issues from the weight of their breasts, but her family also had history of back problems (her mom's side).

While I'm not sure if you're in the same situation, if the pain does keep up, and you can't sleep or do much else in the day, it's probably a good idea to go to a doctor (though the fees will suck). If you haven't strained yourself, or injured it in some way, they'll probably have no clue what to do about it, but will more than likely give you meds to ease the pain, which'll help at least. But hopefully it's nothing serious, and just passes rather quickly.

I have a horrible back. I can be fine for a long time but if I bend wrong once or lift something wrong once, BAM, I'm in unbearable pain for the next month. I'm currently also experiencing not being able to sleep because my back hurts. Yeah. It's awesome.

First off, some stretches you can do: I stole these from a topic I found on here, actually, so if you search "back pain" you should find it. One is just to touch your toes standing up. Make sure your knees are not bent and your back is straight. It feels good the first couple of times, but you'll start to feel it in the backs of your legs, so just keep doing it. Another one is less of a stretch and more of a more comfortable position to be in. Get a chair, lie flat on your back on the floor with your feet and lower legs in the seat of the chair. That one works wonders on me, but you definitely need something to occupy the time, like a book or laptop or something. I chill out in that position for hours sometimes.

I've been to the doctor about back pain before. She checked me for scoliosis (negative), shrugged and handed me muscle relaxants. This is not my idea of a solution, so I never took them, and I'll be damned if I ever go to the doctor for back pain again. I've looked into a lot of different "alternative" therapies, though. If you have an open mind and a fat wallet, that's really probably the best way to go aside from lifestyle changes (lifting correctly, etc). Massage therapy and acupuncture are two that I have not been able to try myself (I'm missing the "fat wallet" part) but know several people who have had success with it. Normal people, even. Crazy people I know have had success with "energy healing."

    Good luck to you

    Could be.

Probably a combination of big tits plus lack of strength in your back/stomach. You should do excersies that strengthen and stretch your back and stomach too. Because If your stomach isnt strong then you cant very well support your back as well as needed.

While my boobs are have shrunk down a bit from rediculously massive to large, they still cause me trouble/pain unless I keep up on my stretching and excersies. It helps a TON.

One great excersise is taking one of those lame balls. You lay down, put your heels on the ball, press down and lift your ass/stomach up while tighting your stomach. Hold it, then SLOWLY push down your back first, then your ass, then your legs.... when your stomach is finally back on the floor, press your stomach down by tightening and pushing towrds the ground. If that makes sense? Yeah. Do like 20 of those motherfuckers a day.

Planks or are good. Also getting on all fours and arching your back with your chin up as you arch, chin down as you sink the arch in and tighten your stomach... thats a good back excersise. Then some back stretches are good.

Anyways, really, go to the doctor, maybe they will perscribe you physical therapy or some shit. And physical therapy is where I learned to deal with the boobs and back issues. If all else fails, and it is for sure the big tits just get a breast reduction, yeah!

You could have over a period of time put your back out, pinched nerves and it's been compensating and now it's showing the pain. You can go to the doctor but they will probably give you anti inflammatories to take or inject you with a inflammatory which will only mask the problem and not solve it, or the doc will refer you to a chiropractor or physio therapist.

Also you could have a virus in your lower spine. I heard of that recently. Do you have any other syptoms?

Whatever you do don't strain it anymore and get it seen to. Heat pack, hot water bottle helps to relax the muscles.

I injured my back years ago from a motorbike accident and go for periods of being fine and then all of a sudden I end up in absolute pain, last time I went to physio and they strapped my back and I had to do certain gentle streching exercises every few hours every day for weeks.

Pilates really helps with strenghtening your core mucles, but don't do these until your back is better.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I figure I'll go get a massage or something, see if that helps. My mom keeps saying she thinks it'll go away soon, but I don't really know. Right now I'm at the point where it hurts to do anything but lie down, and when I'm driving or walking the pain is nauseating. I'm worried it'll get a whole lot worse with school starting next week, seeing as I have to haul around a huge bag of books (4 AP classes hoorah!). I'll make a doc appointment, too.

Satisfied-I've never heard of a virus in the back. I don't have any other symptoms (unless you count pain-induced nausea), but that's interesting to think about.

when i first got my back pain, i got a massage, and it swelled up and made it worse. When i got back and spoke to a physio they said massage was the worst thing for it. I don't know why. I just thought I'd mention that.

So I took some Advil last night and went to sleep. Woke up this morning, pain's totally gone (knock on wood). I'm hoping it was just a bizarre little episode and it never happens again.
