Nuh. I need help, please, someone? I'm now 44.7 kg and my bodyfat percentage is 17.6.
Due to an extremely unhealthy event that took place in last October, my food tube's damaged and the first time I was able to eat solid food without throwing up rightaway was on Friday. So, I've lost a lot of weight. Currently I'm a bit over 42 kg's, I'm 162 cm tall and my body fat percentage is 15.4. I still get my periods. I'm supposed to start gaining weight now that I can eat solid food, in fact I'm being pressured into it. I wouldn't mind gaining some weight, but I was wondering, must it be fat? I mean, me still getting periods is a pretty good sign, right? My skinnyness does occasionally sicken me, and I miss having boobs, but otherwise, I've never felt this comfortable with my figure. I enjoy being thin. So, my questions are, is it dangerous to be this thin, is it ok if the weight I'll be gaining is mostly muscle, and how to achieve that muscle weight gain? Thanks in advance.

Whole grain carbs. i.e. whole wheat bread, beans, oat meal
Medium fat meats - i.e. salmon, leaner beef cuts.
Healthy fats. - i.e. olive oil, peanut oil. Avoid hydrogenated anything.
Fruits and vegetables.
Calcium. Milk, yogurt, cheese.
Eat regularly. Keep your metabolism fed. Exercise regularly. Keep your metabolism moving.
What is your diet like now and how many calories a day do you eat roughly? How often and how hard do you exercise?
Your mind can only hold one thought at a time. Make it a positive and constructive one.

Getting your period doesn't mean you're healthy- you don't really want to find out how close you are to that borderline, do you? If it's serious then yes, they will prefer you to gain weight by any means necessary. If it's all fat, then that's better than starvation. They probably figure they can worry about giving you muscle and leanness when you actually have something there to work with again.
At any rate, I got the impression you think your body fat percentage is too high, which it isn't. 14-20% is healthy for athletes, which you are not if you're that skinny. Healthy for a normally fit woman is between 21-24%. You have a ways to go. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I'd worry about weight first and muscle later. I don't see how you have the strength to do any sort of weight training right now anyway. It could weaken you- with no fat, you have no energy stores to burn once your last meal is gone. Dangerous road.
I agree with ruby, but I would suggest you get most of your calories from beans, nuts, and seeds. They have a lot of protein and fat, and you can eat a whole lot with out even realizing it. Also, instead of only eating for weight gain, exercise to put on muscle along with fat otherwise you'll look like a fat little girl instead of a healthy woman.
I didn't think my body fat % is too high, I was wondering if it's high enough.
I don't really exercise, just walk around my town & bike to school, but that's it. Occasionally dance at clubs. BUT I have this friend who's like a fitness freak, who's promised to become my personal trainer![]()

Update:
Well, I gained my weight back. I dunno how I managed to do it without going back to my original size, cuz my jeans size is still only 26 inches. But I gained like 12 kg. Everybody's been telling me that I look great nowadays compared to the walking skeleton I was back then. So yeah, all's good now - thanks for the advice!
Edit add:
I would also like to inform you lovely people that due to having been extremely underweight, I don't think that I'll EVER have an eating disorder again. Being a skeleton taught me that being really skinny just isn't fun. w00t. I'm proud of this. I'm proud that I managed to gain weight, I'm proud that I will never have an eating disorder again, I'm proud to be happy with my body the way it is.

The funny thing is, the whole episode changed my body type!!! I used to have a pear body, but now that I live in a city, my ass just won't grow back to being as big as it was. The weight has gone around my whole body, so now I rock an hourglass figure, which I'm very happy with![]()

Sorry, buddy, can't help ya. I just ate whatever the fuck I wanted, how much I wanted and didn't exercise. But I do have a taste for greasy, sugary, unhealthy, some might even say, junk foods. Chocolate and ice cream don't help much tho. They were what I ate when I lost the weight.
