Having spent the entire summer back at university, away from friends and family, at the gym and rugby training to get into the firsts i've fractured my foot in my second game for them. Fortunately it didn't require surgery; i fucked my lisfranc ligament which has pulled fragments of bone out with it. Fortunately i don't appear to have dislocated my metatarsals which usually comes with it.
Did it on saturday in our second game of the season, i only got on for twenty minutes and went in to tackle a guy and the force of the impact went through my foot and i felt like i'd split it in two. Bought new footbeds for my boots and have a bad feeling they had something to do with it. What was really irritating is that the minor injuries unit at the hospital x-rayed me, told me it was muscle bruising and sent me home.
Only on the monday when the weekday x-ray guys had a look did i get called back and sent with crutches to the orthopaedics department at another hospital the other side of town where i had a CT scan and several more x-rays (all very exciting and helpful for my med-student girlfriend). In the end i stayed overnight on the ward with a man who whimpered, grunted and farted louder than anyone i've ever heard. I was told i might need surgery in the morning so i slept like a crackhead in rehab because i want bolts in my foot about as much as i want an XX gauge piercing in my cock, and finally discovered i didn't need surgery when the nurses gave me breakfast rather than my doctors actually telling me i didn't need surgery.
So i'm in a half cast for at least a week until i see the fracture specialist and i can't bear weight on it. In connected news crutches can suck my balls, showering is fucking rubbish and i sweat trying to get anywhere...possibly because i'm impatient and try to get everywhere as quickly as possible. So here i am sitting in my rugby shorts and a wifebeater with the internet for company like a fat sweaty WoW junkie. I just want to get training and get back playing, i never thought i'd feel this way with an injury but it seems things have changed for me in the last year or so.
Anyway it could have been a lot worse, and it also means i can rip my med-student team mates who unanimously told me it was just muscle bruising and to man up, and i'm pretty sure i get man points for going out drinking heavily on the saturday after i did it without crutches, bore shitloads of weight on it and still managed to not fuck it up further.

Sweet as the Punch.Syco- "The Empress is the latter leg of this triad, representing the physical body and the material world. From her comes all the pleasure of the senses and the abundance of life in all its forms. She is also the mother archetype, and through her we get a first glimpse of the power of love in the Tarot." I think this is all representative of awesomly large tits, no?
I know how you feel. I ruptured my achilles tendon at the beginning of last summer and you hit on all the crappy points of the experience. I was an idiot and put too much weight on it in the first week of having the cast on and broke the damn thing!
Made for a shitty summer but you sure appreciate all the things you CAN'T do when you're on crutches. They definitely suck balls. Hope you're back to normal quickly
Now that you have time on your hands, post more. I need the laughs!

Ouch, rugby injuries are fuckin gay! I hope your foot feels better soon.
My mate Del used to play for Wales U21 and he's broken every finger, both legs and both arms multiple times, collar bone, ribs and pretty much everything you can imagine. He's a med-student too and said that the worst thing he ever saw was when a dude went down and dislocated his hip. The coach took it upon himself to push said hip back into place having been on an advanced sports injuries course. Now, when the dude dislocated his hip, that left a gap around his pelvis, and what should happen to retract and fill said gap??? That's right!!!! SO the coach popped his hip back into place where the joint promptly crushed one of the guy's testicles into smithereens. Cue a trip to the hospital, a re-dislocation of his hip, a painful operation, a lot of recovery time and a life with one solitary bollock.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
Ah mate, people who aren't physios, doctors or ambulance workers should never, ever touch injuries of any sort. I know a guy who was told to run off a broken ankle by an ex TA medic...who was an idiot. Plenty of horror stories surrounding rugby.
Unfortunately my gf has informed me that with the soft tissue side of my injury, chances are it'll be months before i can safely add a little bit of weight onto my foot and work with it because of the position of the damage...so i could conceivably be out of my position for 6 months. Fuck.

Aww man, that really sucks. Hope it heals quickly. the hard part is going to be making yourself stay off it.
Good luck!

stuff is just stuff. your emotional health is much more important. holding raging anger in is more harmful than your faggot-assed tv that probably deserves to get its ass beat anyway.
