Binge drinking is good for you

A splendid new study which seems to represent the opinion of my subconscious has declared that drinking one bottle of wine, or six beers (bottles I'd assume) per day, significantly reduces the risk of heart failure.

The study was conducted on 15,000 men and 26,000 women, between 29 and 69, who have been drinking for more than ten years. The people who drank very little reduced their risk of a heart attack by 35%, while those who drank heavily reduced it by 50%. That's when compared with people who don't drink and who are, I can gleefully announce, a danger to themselves.

This strikes me as particularly interesting when we look at the amounts the government says we are supposed to drink. In Britain, the recommended daily intake is 3-4 drinks per day for men and 2-3 for women, in America 1-2 for men and 3 for women (surely thats not right?), in Canada 2 for both, in Australia 2 for both, in New Zealand 3 for men, 2 for women. It's therefore fair to say that the government's guidelines for what we can drink are in fact putting us at risk.

    What a beautiful day.

By the way, some douchebag killjoy fun-chasm professor from Liverpool has said that the study is flawed but whatever, fuck him.

Bloody hel, how many of these studies do there need to be? Every couple of months there's a new study which says a glass of red wine a day is good for you or a beer is good for you or beer is bad for you or drinking more than the suggested amount is going to take/add 10 years from/to your life. Make your mind up!

In the meantime though, I'll quite hapilly crack open a nice cold cerveza and celebrate.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

    Yuh...
Syco- "The Empress is the latter leg of this triad, representing the physical body and the material world. From her comes all the pleasure of the senses and the abundance of life in all its forms. She is also the mother archetype, and through her we get a first glimpse of the power of love in the Tarot." I think this is all representative of awesomly large tits, no?

loves. does a 7&7 fall into the healthy drink category? because it is dancing down my throat as we speak.
    mmm, my heart is warmed.
'Cause I'm that fool that broke the key- I'm unlockable so don't check me- I got weight on my shoulders and things on my mind- The sky is falling and I'm falling behind... No shame in my game just par for the path- I try to hone my craft because at hand's the task- But I find I'm not playing with a full deck- I'm up to my neck like Toulouse Lautrec

AS MANY AS FUCKIN' POSSIBLE, HOO-AHH!

(In all seriousness, though, I just read the study, and it's a bit silly. The study says that drinking six beers a day is only good for heart failure, but is absolutely terrible for everything else.)

yeah... binge drinking is not good for me, I know that loud and clear

kind of sidenote convo this reminds me of, hope you do not object to the deviation

Doctors tell (US) pregnant women not to drink any alcohol whatsoever, but there's no evidence a small amount of alcohol causes any ill effects. Pregnant women told glass of wine a day is fine - and too dangerous - Times Online

I think it's bad to tell people drinking is harmful, when there is no basis for calling a single glass of wine/day bad. As a responsible human I take issue with being given false medical recommendations just because there is a risk someone could go off the deep end and think it's okay to drink excessively or doesn't know how to measure. When I was pregnant I researched it a bit and figured out there's no real issue with me having a single glass of wine. It was maybe 1-2x/week, a single glass, but I always felt like, I couldn't do that while out eating a nice meal or I'll probably get glared down because everyone is told drinking while preg is always bad. And people say, "why risk it?" Well, it doesn't actally seem to be risking anything.
