Aww, sorry to hear about that.

Yeah, losing 24 pounds for anyone is tough, but if you stick it out and deny yourself a few extra cookies and start working out again, anyone can lose weight.

One major problem that I have is having enough money to support a healthy diet. I would like to buy fruits, veggies etc. but most of that stuff costs a pretty penny. Therefore, I don't believe I eat as well as I should...

Stick to it! Try to beat me! lol

It's been awhile. Time for an update.

I currently weigh 227 pounds. I have lost 43 pounds so far. I am hoping to lose another 7 pounds before school starts in the latter half of August. 7 pounds isn't that much, but lately I have been on a plateau that I am hoping to get over. I have been buying more fruits and veggies. I got my wife on board with losing the weight! YAY! By the way, I am going to probably graduate college FOREVER in May of next year! WOOT WOOT!

I am forcing myself to wake up early enough to jog around the park and then come home and lift weights. I bought a barbell curl bar, two barbells and some weights. I am looking to buy a weight bench and a bench press bar soon, if I can get permission from my wife. I want her to start lifting weights and exercising with me but she refuses. She has changed her diet, but hasn't lost any weight because she refuses to exercise. I don't know how to get her motivated to lose weight! UGH!

How can I get my wife to work out/walk/jog with me? She says she doesn't like to get all sweaty - but I argue that if you don't sweat you can't lose any weight. Anyway, thanks for reading all!

Inspiring stuff Snake. I've always had a challenge staying motivated to manage my weight properly so this is a great read!

Good luck selling your wife on taking on the weights etc but tread softly. She has to want to do it for her own reasons.

    Keep up the updates!

So today, I woke up at 6AM and my wife got up with me and she did her new workout routine! I did my usual workout routine and then went for a one mile jog. Came back and showered and ate breakfast before work. It was beautiful. Now if I can just do that every morning...

By the way, I have decided to join the military after I graduate college... so this is a perfect time for me to get in shape... before I go to boot camp. I will have a decent amount of college education ... probably go into officer's training. I made a 99 on my ASVAB test... Anyways, anyone have any advice for going into the military,... what branch is better for a pussy like me... etc.?

My goal is to get down to 185 pounds, however if I lose all of my fat and start looking really svelt, then I will let my weight be whatever it needs to be. Anyways, thanks for reading!

    Update

    Another update.

I am currently 225, as of this morning. I have been trying to change up some of my routine. I am back in school now - which means that I have a gym available to me again. I am working out on Mondays and then the rest of the week I am doing cardio. On Mondays and Wednesdays this semester, I am taking an aerobics class that does a great job of keeping my heart rate up for at least 30 minutes. After that class, however, I go and jog another mile and a half to keep my heart rate going for at least 50 minutes.

I have really been watching how much I am eating lately and really paying attention to the amount and when my stomach feels full. When I am full, I completely stop, no matter how much I still have on my plate. That's something I think my parents screwed me up on - they always said to finish whatever was on my plate - and that's the mentality that I have carried with me over the years.

So, I have another 25 pounds to go before I reach my goal of being under 200.

So, that's my weight loss update... the other updates:

I have decided that after I get out of college, I am going to go ahead and join the Air Force and retire from it. It's only 16 years until I retire and that's not really that long. I can work or not work for the rest of my life with a good retirement and awesome benefits. So, that's that!

Man, just looking at this thread, it looks like I haven't lost but 2 pounds since last month! That's no good! Well, I haven't been in school but a week and a half, so maybe increasing the amount of cardio that I am doing and doing some weight training and not eating Dinner anymore will help cut calories and possibly fat! So, I'm really looking forward to losing more weight! I have about a year left to do it, so.... YEAH! Time to really hunker down and do it!

Snake, what's your diet and exercise plan? What sort of foods are you absolutely not eating? I've started jogging in the evenings but think that an early-morning jog is my best bet.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
