Hi there.

If you're reading this, you're admitting that you care about what I have to say. With that in mind, kindly listen, I'm only doing this once.

Yes, it's true, I'm in the process of coming back to s-b. When I left, I felt completely unwanted, disrespected, and ostracised by a community of people who, sad as it is to admit, I cared a lot about. I'd first like to clear up the whole situation regarding Jumpman and his signature.

A while ago, when the original sb.com went down, Tanner gave me the root (administrator) password to www2.stupidboy.com and told me to fix the problem. I did what I could, which included creating a tarball of the entire stupidboy archive, which I'm sure won't have been wiped. However, executing simple commands proved dodgy, as after I ran a program to check how the hard disk was doing, I got locked out of the system. The root account was no longer accessible, and at this point, I will admit I was getting pretty torn up by it all. Jumpman decided that now, of all times, would be the time he'd take on my commie ass over AIM. We argued, and I blocked him.

Tanner, being the wonderous leader that he is, accused me of hosing the entire server, and hasnt spoken to me since. But don't worry, there'll be more on him later. I felt bad enough as it was, even though the server was gunna go down anyway, I still thought it was essentially my fault that sb had been lost. So then Barn makes the new SB, and I head on over, albeit somewhat sheepishly. Myself and Barn were having a chat about the new site, and he asked if there was anything that I thought needed doing or changing or whatever. So I offered some ideas, we threw some words around.

As you all blatantly know (although seemingly love to forget...everyone needs a bad guy), I am not, by any means opposed to free speech. However, I figured being as this was a new website that was designed for an international audience, that we wouldn't want to offend ANY potential newcomers to the site (regardless of where they are born). So, using the wrong word, I asked Barn if he was going to allow Jump to have his 'racist' signature, which at the time implied that all French people are cowards. I then recieved the following:

"So I hear you have issues with my signature? You think its racist? Big fucking deal. If what you said carried any weight in my life, I would probably have killed myself by now. And if you have an issue with me, take it up with me. And, I like this site, so try not to wreck it this time. B) G'night."

So, I'm now being accused of singlehandedly destroying the old stupidboy, and I felt Barn had made a confrontation out of something that didnt need to be, my question wasnt a personal attack against Jump, it was administrative, it was about the site. But this, as with so many things, was completely turned against me, and I was accused by those who should know better, of stifling free speech. Trionix. Stifling free speech. If Jump wanted to actually have a discussion about the French, then that's fine, I obviously have no problem with that, but I didnt feel that blatant xenophobic (heh, got the right word now) advertising was the right way to go about it. So, I called them both out, and waited for a response.

I didnt expect what I recieved, I was being accused of all KINDS of stuff by people who know me, know what I'm like, and know that pretty much the only thing I would actually die for is freedom of speech and expression. This wasnt the first time I'd thought I was doing something good for the site and been slapped about by everyone either. Remember my banning by Tanner? You all still don't know what that was about (oddly it was fine to 'draw the line' then...). But if you want the actual details on the other 'incident', then let me know, that's not the point of this post. So, once again, even though I spent days trying to fix the old www2.stupidboy.com, get back all the old posts, contact the hosts who it seems hate Tanner, help out with the site, and ask one question that might mean we get more people on the boards than had I not, I got nothing but grief from the people I was genuinely trying to help. The only person who even tried (he got it wrong, but he still tried) was Big_(theman)_Mac. So, I decided that if you were all going to turn your backs on me and everything I'd done, and genuinely do it so uncaringly, I'd do the same to you. I read the war posts, the press posts, and I realised that everything I wrote on the other site, every fact, figure, statistic, reference and cross reference, every argument I'd put forth was gone. I thought 'No way. I'm not going through all that again just because some people weren't paying attention or for some reason think they can have me now.' So I left.

Which brings me to the present day. A change of e-mail address led to a conversation between myself and Barn (we hadnt spoken since my departure), and he pointed me to an idea of Stairway's. The only person across the boards who actually had something constructive to say about me (thanx by the way). Having a little stroll about the boards, I discovered various posts that actually seemed quite interesting.

Maybe even fresh. Seeing this, and seeing all the new people who've signed up, made me realise that I'm not gunna have to go through everything I ever typed again. Fresh new faces are very encouraging. Numerous threads that I'm reading would benefit from my point of view, and whilst you may hate me and refuse to admit that fact, the fact that you've read this far down pretty much proves that somewhere, deep inside, you love me. Heh.

But, there are obviously a number of issues that need addressing:

Wizen, no, I dont agree with Irish jokes.
Dragonknight, yes, you're right, it is definitely all about context.
Barn, I'm sorry.
Ruby, regardless of my 'credibility' or status, you know that you're still gunna read what I have to say, which I'm pretty sure is the point of the site.
Stairs, that'd be cool.
Colours, good to see you again

However, obviously with my "You've all taken up far too much of my time with your insane stupidity and lack of open-mindedness as it is" statement, I understand I'll have put a few peoples backs up. So, I'm calling for a vote. It's pretty self-explanatory. I won't be posting anything further from now, unless you decide it's ok for me to.

Trionix,

I love you to pieces, and seeing as I have only just found this site I would be very displeased if you left.

Everyone says things in the heat of the moment, and I would hope that no rational person would hold those type of comments against someone.

I have 'known' you for a while, and although there have been times when I have read posts of yours and thought to myself 'whoa, thats a bit fucking rude', I don't dislike you at all.
In fact I love that you are so outspoken, and are prepared to express your opinion even if it isn't the popular one. That takes guts.

I think that if you left then we as a community would be losing something precious.

Ok, thats enough of me being nice to you, I love you and don't want you to leave.

I voted 'yes'. In any community, be it real life or the internet, there are going to be people that disagree with each other. I just think we need more constructive ways of handling arguments on s-b. I'm not exactly sure who's job that is. People should be able to say what they wish, even if we deem it racist. Although I didn't see what Jumpman said, from the sounds of it I probably would have thought it was inappropriate. Nevertheless, I think the guy has every right to say it. As with everyone else here. I don't know the details of the situation, because I just joined the board recently...after you left. Anyway, I'm sure with a little effort we can all get along.

I've said more than enough about what I think of you and what I want to see from you.

Nice to hear from you again Tri. I wasn't aware of the circumstances from which you were banned from the orginal SB or the altercation you had with Jump and Barn on the new S-B. Frankly I don't care to know either, its in the past, the old SB is dead, you did all you could to try to fix it and from what I heard by that time the parition was so fucked up it would have been impossible even for the best to fix. Nobody here is blaming you, Ruby is right, in any community there is going to be "issues" people get pissed at each other.

As for the "racist" remarks, in todays society being called a "racist" is a HUGE accusation. I see alot of people are quick to jump to "your a racist" without considering the context or the intentions. I believe Jump was just trying to be funny, and I don't believe there were any racist parts, implied or stated, in his signiture. I just want to ask people, please consider the context, and intentions before telling someone to go light a cross. Alot of people here innocent remarks about black people negative or not and equate it to "n-----s aren't our equal". People are very sensative about not stepping on other peoples toes so to speak, but sometimes it goes a little bit too far. A good example, I was at one of my friends houses and he had invited a few other people over also. One of my buddies was talking about a fight that happened at school, An african america kid beat the living shit out of a skinny caucasian kid. He used the word "black" when he was describing the larger kid, one of the girls (white also) I know from school jumped up and started telling him off about how he was a racist and some other stuff. It seems to me people are so scared of being called a racist that they will say anything or do anything to avoid it or pin it on someone else. (sorry I got a little off topic).

Anyway Glad to hear from you again, I'm sure we will have some problems but nothing we can't get over.

While i respect yur intelligence and opinion as an equal and this is a FREE internet site so anyone can come and go at their free will, the departure was fucking petty, yur public displays of anger toward Barn were fucking childish and i saw them as an attempt to martyr yurself. Tanner, the old stupidboy server, an international audience HAVE NOTHING to do with any of that shit and i don't see the point in deflection of blame.

That said, welcome back. Like all Oldies yu definitly are a part of Stupid-boy and yu add something important to the community. Yu have my blessing.

DPuck, you claim that most of my above post was completely unrelated to me leaving, and that it is nothing more than a deflection of blame. Blame for what?

WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOO! TRI! It's totally great to see you, you old Anti-Superpower/Western Culture/American-British rabble rouser, you!!!! *DOES THAT JUMP UP IN THE AIR AND SLAM CHESTS TOGETHER THING*, LOL!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH BABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBY! HOO HOO HOO HOO HOO HOO HOO!

SB would NOT be the same without you. You bring up so many things that make me see issues from a different angle. In all seriousness, you have affected my life outside of just some internet posting board. Since I read your post on the old SB about America--and the fact that we are not as perfect as our government would like us to believe--I have looked at things more closely, examined things more objectively, and seen things more clearly than I ever did before. And I'm totally not just saying this to be flattering or whatever. (Although, Tri, I gotta tell ya: nice shoes, buddy. They Italian? LOL, J/K.) Although I don't totally agree with everything you say, your input has made me a more tolerant person than I ever would have thought possible. There are two sides to every issue, and you made me see that. In short: Tri, YOU ARE DA MAN, my friend. HAHAHAHA. FREE SPEECH FOREVER, BABBBBBBBBBY! WHA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

...

Don't leave, Tri. We have to keep each other in line on "herre", dawg. I'd have to break a bottle of methol alcohol on your head and beat you savagely with a canvas bag full of wood screws. LOL, HAHAHAHA.

Actually, Markus, the nomenclature of organic alcohols should never include the word, "alcohol" themselves.

Methanol (which is the word I believe you were trying to get across), formula CH3OH would look like this molecularly:
H OH
\ /
C
/ \
H H

Luckily, since this is methyl (pronounced, meth' il) we do not have to locate the branching of the hydroxide (OH) bond. Therefore the substance is known as "methanol"

kthnx.

PS: I have NO idea why I wrote this, I think I'm buzzing with SB joy!!
