I'm the chick with the England hat on and Bafana Bafana T-shirt. Lil guy is my nephew.

Hey, vuvuzelas aren't that bad. I actually don't hear them anymore on tv cause i'm so busy watching the game. But must be insane and LOUD if you in the crowd with them. i would take ear plugs.

yeah I guess you get used to them, but I wish I didn't have to!

Is SA suddenly into football now then because of the world cup? or was it popular before hand?

Most of my guy friends were into soccer.

I didn't even know how to spell soccer till now! ;-P. Nah, just kidding, i was never into soccer but you can't help but get all excited. The spirit here is F***king amazing. I just got back from having a few drinks with a bunch of guys from Aussie. I was having a good laugh at them. They staying in Umhlanga and they can't even pronounce it! I think it was the booze that made it seem super funny, but they were cool guys.

    WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Loving it. Those vuvuzelas are completely insane but I was fully prepared thanks to watching the Confederations Cup last summer. It must be brilliant seeing all those different supporters walking about the place, making noise and having parties everywhere! I'm very jealous!

SA's best player, Steven Pienaar plays for my team Everton, so I hope he does you a few favours and gets SA through to the knockout stage of the tournament. COME ON BAFANA BAFANA!
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. Oh yes, i wish SA could be like this 24/7. Everyone just so damn happy!

I'm off to party tonight, Brazil game hopefully be interesting. Portugal was a let down, i landed up supporting Ivory Coast in the end...they were far more interesting to watch. Strong team there! I hope they go far.

Yeah, i think a lot of people have high hopes for Pienaar.

Eurgh, that Portugal V Ivory Coast game was almost as bad as the New Zealand V Slovakia one, but then at least that game had 2 goals in it! The first round of games always suck though so it's no big surprise. Once the teams become more concerned with winning than not losing, it all becomes a bit more interesting.

Yeah, my step dad said, 'so far, the only game that was worth watching so far was Germany'

I'm not a fan of Germany though.

    In order...

South Africa, England, Portugal and then Brazil.

I can't wait till games start getting more nail biting. These draws are getting annoying.

    Anyhoo, GO BRAZIL!

heeh the only thing they had on the news here about the soccer stuff was that the team usa advanced and that the workers at the stadium are on strike and they had to call police in to take control of security besides that soccers pretty boring compared to the other american sports its so slow in developing a play the pro players dont play with as much heart as high schoolers do atleast thats the way it seems to me.. unless your from those countries where you might get shot if you dont score a goal or make a save

Well you guys can't be good at EVERYTHING. I think that's the main reason why my step dad enjoyed that game so much. Was nice seeing you guys get your ass raped on the field for a change.

Some foreigners you can spot from a MILE away. Them and their jackets they have around their waist is a DEAD giveaway.

Exciting to see Spain get beaten! Only Germany of the big teams have played a full on decent match so far!

    England: Fail.
    France: Fail.
    Italy: Fail.
    Brazil: Almost fail.
    Netherlands: Good
    Argentina: OK.
    Portugal: Fail.
    Germany: Boom town!

The first round of games are always cagey affairs though! Just look at what happened last night. Uruguay looked a lot more comfortable against South Africa than they did against a poor France team and already today Argentina have absolutely battered South Korea 4-1!!!! No team wants to lose the first game so they don't go all out for the win. The pressure is on for the next two group games though, so now teams need to be a bit more adventurous if they're going to progress.

Sorry Tasty but South Africa were abysmal last night. You don't win games by passing the ball sideways at every opportunity. The only player who seemed to try to get forward was Steven Pienaar and then he was amazingly substituted after the sending off (bad dive but still a sending off). Uruguay got away with a lot of defensive mistakes because SA were completely unable to make them pay.

It'll be interesting to see how things develop over the weekend.
