Why are some girls like this?

Today while I was at work, this 30-year-old woman came up to me and told me I was cute, and she asked me how old I was. I told her I was 19 and she told me that I looked older for my age. I've worked there for over six months, and so has she, and we've never spoken until today, but that's beside the point.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. I get a lot of compliments from girls that are much older than me. Probably 99% of the compliments I get come from women who are 25-30. I hardly ever directly hear anything from girls that are around my age, though. I say "directly" because I usually hear things that people say through their friends. For example, the day after I graduated high school, one of my best girl friends told me all of the secrets that other girls had told her not to tell me during my senior year. Just simple stuff, really....like they thought I was cute, or something. When she told me the names of these girls and some of the things they had said about me, I was shocked because when I was around them in school, I always had the feeling that those same girls hated me. They never talked to me, they weren't friendly to me at all, and I was actually interested in a couple of them, but I figured that they just couldn't stand me, based on their actions when they were around me. I never dreamed that they had something good to say about me.

So I guess what I'm asking here is why don't girls my age tell me these things instead of their friends, and why don't they ever want me to find out about what they say? And why are they always rude to me?

If they were just straightfoward like the older girls, it would be so much easier for both of us.

Intersting situation. I'm not sure I can provide any usefull information but one thing my wife tells me is that if girls like a boy they mostly pretend they don't like him. It seems to be a defense mechanism of some sort. It's somewhat like the little boys pulling girls' hair in elementary shcool.

But then again, this is one those questions which I think only women will be able to answer.

Young girls like to tell there friends secrets then giggle alot...

Older girls dont giggle as much so they just skipp the shit and tell you

Older women begin to actually HUNT for men when they notice the biological clock ticking and they also want to avoid being labled an 'Old Maid' if they can... You'd expect that this didnt happen in a society like today, but the gender gap and expectations are still there....

Perhaps its that they're more desperate to snag a husband (Ladies of this age, PLEASE dont bite my head off for this one... 'tis but a theory of mine!) Or maybe its because they're exactly that...more mature and realize that the giggling behind closed doors isnt going to get them anywhere. Because of that they're less likely to screw around with your head, unless they're on drugs... in that case, you're fucked

older women are more experienced, more smarter and have more sense. They actually notice a great guy when they see one. As with young girls go out with the guys there friends tell them too and overlook the real men

I have a younger husband but he asked me out 3 times before I said Ok. I didn't want to date a younger man, but he was so sweet so I did. I never hunted for young guys because my biological clock was ticking! Thats a stupid stereotype especially for a woman in her twenties.Women who "hunting" want marriage and babies not some hot 19 yr old. The ladies that are approaching you want to have fun.If you look older then its not their fault.

A young woman that asks guys out is usually seen as aggressive just like the impression that you are having of the older ladies.Older ladies are not aggressive but they do understand that some guys are shy and sometimes it takes the girl to speak up.Thats maturity hunnie.

When I was younger I had a crush on this guy and I asked him out but he said he was busy . It turned out he liked me but he wanted to ask me.When I asked him he got the impression that I was pushy and he lost interest. I am pushy though and I guess I wasn't his type anyway.

Could it be that you do look older that the younger women are not asking you?

My husband looks older than me also so it is very possible that she mistook your age. I'm 32 and he is 27.Everyone says he looks 35 and I look 20. He hates that.

Rude, maybe playing hard to get?
Besides, they probably got scared that you might actually ask them out, because it would force them into a decision. Better to make you feel you shouldn't do it so they never have to answer.

Straightforwardness is a risky stratagy, it opens your flank up, allows you to be hurt. I imagine older peeps have weathered, so feel it less and worry about it less. But the younger peeps, unless they are true players and don't care, don't want the pain of rejection and such..

My 40 bucks and two cents there..

I don't get the shy thing. If you like a guy, why not let him know? Especially if you know he likes you. Afraid of being hurt? Afraid you'll fall hard for him? Afraid he'll discover a deep dark secret about you? Afraid he's too good for you?

I think girls your age are intimidated by you may b cuz you look much older or sometimes is just because they are not quite sure how to talk to you and tell you or what to talk about . try to just b really friendly to them even if they give you the attitude and see what happens
