I agree with simply saying hello and seeing what happens. Just don't come on too strong. If your endgame is to become his gf, well then that's already kind of stalker-ish so maybe take it one step at a time.

You like him and there is nothing wrong with getting to know him a bit better (and doing a little recon). As far as what you choose to do next, just let your own sense of right and wrong guide you.

Franco, the fact that I disagree with you doesn't put me in lala land or squarely shoulder to shoulder with Disney. I do believe in treating people with respect and I also think one gets further in life by helping others than simply a me attitude. No need to get all cranky on me.

Between the two of us, we've given the original poster some things to think about. She can do what she pleases based upon her own perspectives. Just like you do for you, and I do for me.

So you help others because you think it gets you further in life, not because of genuine interest. That's not a "me" attitude?

And of course she can do what she pleases, I wouldn't take anyone's advice on the Internet serious. i'd ask friends or people with lives.

No, but you can read it that way if you like. I'm not going to get into a pissing match here. I don't know what you are out to prove, but you are misinterpreting my words to suit your own life vision. I help people because I want to, because it actually makes me feel good to be of service.

I happen to believe that people get further by being altruistic. Additionally that the me first attitude may be immediately rewarding but will bite you in the butt in the long term. That's my take. It's obviously not yours. I hope yours doesn't bite you in the butt just like I hope mine works for me.

Katiepie, don't listen to the doubters, you might as well give it a go and see what happens.

My intention was simply to prove that she should go for it instead of forgetting about it like you suggested. My backing for that is that a human does not care about another and it is shown through people's vain actions and personalities, making the whole respecting boundaries, a futile effort. Then I went into pointing out that selfishness through your own explanations, like how you just stated "I help people because it makes ME feel good to be of service" and "PEOPLE GET FURTHER by being altruistic". Whether you see it or not, any human attitude will be first and foremost a me attitude.

So in short: The intention was to prove my point right through the whole humans are vain theory, probably in a vain attempt to fulfill my own ego. At least as humans we have the ability to be honest.

The OP probably never came back to read this, but if she did, sorry for carrying this whole thing of topic, boards aren't exactly overflowing with new posts anyway.

Oh, and this isn't France, hippie.

I'm realistic which is different. People tend to sugarcoat everything, refusing to believe the world that they see in front of them. If you point out anything I've said and explain to me in with reasonable arguments, why it is incorrect, I'd be more than happy to illustrate my point.

See that's usally the response I give when people say I'm too negative. So when it's coming from me it's worth considering whether you've slid too far.

I'd just like to point out here that you don't have to completely disavow any and all faith in humanity or mankind in order to let some guy know that you like him.

The guilt trip being put on Katie is disgustingly Catholic.

Well my point was just to have her take a second look at her expectations.
I'm not saying 'once a cheater always a cheater', I'm saying 'boys will be boys', and boys in high school arent generally looking to settle down at 15 years old so she shouldnt expect that.
If all she wants is to start a long track record of ex boyfriends or just someone on her arm to show off to her friends at the mall, then by all means go for it.
Just dont be surprised when he dumps you on Tuesday with some lame line about chemistry and then has some other prancing bimbo on his arm by Thursday.

    It is BOTH.
My signature is no joke and your character is polluted with pessimism and bitterness.

I forgot I was talking to the king of semantics here.
Did I say, ‘OMG, don’t do it because you’re guaranteed to crash and burn!!!’?
    No.

    Yes.

It DOES matter when you’re a teenager.
If you disagree, then at what age, pray tell, does it suddenly begin to matter?
When they’re old enough to be heartbroken?
When they’re old enough to have their self esteem shattered?
    When they hit puberty?
When do people first develop emotions?
When do people's actions start having consequences and effects on the world around them?

I gave the same advice I’ve given my 17 year old sister.
I for one, give a flying fuck if she ends up pregnant before being able to pursue her biology career.
The same way I made sure she knew she knew about the danger and seriousness of motor vehicles when she first went out driving; that it wasn’t just all fun and games because people could really get hurt.
She knows the whole picture and what to expect, so she knows what to avoid *and* what to look for.

Tell people the truth about the world, good and bad, and give them the tools and knowledge to make their own judgements.
I stand by the notion that it's completely irresponsible to tell someone to dive headfirst into something without informing them of the risk or giving all the relevant facts you're aware of.
That's what people do when they have something to gain from the other person's loss.
If you think there's no risk involved in telling a teenage girl to go hit on another girl's boyfriend, you should reconsider giving social advice to teenagers.

That's fantastic and everyone's input was quite enjoyable, but if you would look at the OP's profile: she came in, posted the question, and never came back. This whole thing was futile, except for the "who's E-penis is bigger competition". Ahh, the internetz.

Esternogligen and Gosu, your answers did not argue any of my points (free spirit tree hugging sayings don't count, Estern) and I will therefore consider myself victorious, as you can tell by my post, I feed my ego constantly (through distorted ways to suit my own views of the world according to Ruby)

I hate all of you, but at least that's better than apathy.
