Er, what is it that you're doing that isn't working?
Hey so I have short hair and I want this kind of look, I should be able to get it as I recently got a haircut anyway but I have some trouble actually getting my hair not lie flat also I don't know how i should approach putting the product in. What im kinda looking for a step-by-step help guide to doing it lol.

I use this
It's not a gel. It's more like a soft paste. I like it better because it doesn't turn white or flaky if it gets messed up, and it gives your hair a more natural matte look, instead of a glossy or super shiny look. There are alot of similar products that can be found almost anywhere. Hair gel is for junior high kids.

It smells faggy, but its cheap and it does the trick...

Just use the styling product, that's what it's designed for. Hence why it's got some very brief instructions on it.

Kyan, Queer Eye's Grooming Guru, always said to apply hair product from the back of your head to the front. I think this would work on this cut. I agree with smirk on the gel thing... unless you're in some sort of sport (and you're a girl) and you need your hair not to move, gel should be avoided.
