what's up with bangs making such a huge comeback? it seems like every girl ever has either a choppy punk hairstyle with angled bangs... or that sideswept hollywood look...

i've been trying to come up with something to do with my hair, and bangs have crossed my mind (lol pun)... but i'm the sort of person who does NOTHING with her hair. i wear mine up 99% of the time. i like having the option of length, but day to day, i HATE having it down. could be the humidity.

lately i've been having these thoughts of chopping it all off, coloring it, and going with bangs. i need a change, i just don't know where i'm going with it.

do i go bleach blonde? dark auburn?

i haven't colored my hair in years because of the damage it does. but it's grown out to where there's maybe 2 inches of color damage at the very tips, and i'm left with my natural hair color which isn't all that exciting in the first place. it's dirty blonde and gets bleached in the sun and it's annoying.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HAIR? it's to my middle back at the mo.

Be careful with bangs, a lot of my friends have them, and spend more time a day tiding them up, then anything else. I would only recommend bangs if you have the time to do your hair.

You ever think about some layers, and maybe just a regular old cut, or highlights/streaks? This way it is different, but not drastic. Or you could dye your hair a colour that fades really fast.

i sorta have layers. i have taken a pic:

you can see the blaze' color that i have. what color should i do? i want something drastic, i think. i don't know what would really work with my skin.
and what you said about bangs is exactly what i don't want to deal with. why can't they just be maintenance free. >.<

I was having the same debate. So I cut my hair to just below my shoulders, and had my shortest layers long enough that I could tuck them behind my ears, but still do bang type things with them. And then realised how glad I was I didn't go for bangs.

If you're tempted have longer bangs cut for you, then if you hate em, they'll grow out quicker. Then if you want them shorter you can always cut them again. As for colour, I have no clue!

hmm. i struggle with this cutting decision because it's ALMOST to mermaid standards, which excites me. maybe i should just color it for now. but that's SUCH a HUGE commitment. then i'll have to be REcoloring it all the time and all that crap. i should just do it, i have a shitton of greys anyways.

maybe i'll just get a trim for now, and a new color. so i guess i really need color suggestions, which is a bitch and a half. i went thru this last summer too, and almost went platinum. i'm kinda glad i didn't.

i have a gf who's been a hairdresser for years. maybe i should take this query to her

    ohhhhh hairrrrrrrrrr.

Maybe try a few different ones in the colours that wash out? You won't be able to go lighter, though.

OR - go to your friend and have her put a few different colours of high-lights in, of colours you're thinking of, and which ever you end up liking the best in the long run, go with it?

    Thumbs up

Do all women 17+ dye their hair, or at least do something to the color like with streaks? I've noticed a lot of the women in my neighborhood have done this, and I've often had people mention things like that they're brunette, but not really as dark as they dye their hair and whatnot.

What's the problem with your ordinary hair color (colour for the American impaired)? I actually like the photo sprank loaded in this topic with her hair as it is, so is this something men just don't get or what?

PS: Sprank, don't go blonde. Seriously!

I used to have a thick full fringe (bangs is a bizarre term... crazy yanks) like this:

And it was so so so much hassle, it had to be blow dried just right and if there is even a slight merry ribbon of wind you end up with a fanny part. I used to have a brush and a mirror out every 2 minutes trying to fix it, it was so annoying. I don't know if it's like that for everyone but it was a pain in the arse for me. I don't know if that's cause I cut it in myself orrr? Maybe hairdressers have a magic wind tampering prevention method, who knows. I miss that fringe I liked it but it was just too much work so if you're the type who can't be arsed faffing around with your hair I would say don't get a full fringe. Side fringes are proper easy to handle though, when it's windy you don't have to put in place a military operation to make sure it looks okay, you just sweep it ta the side, peesy! You could get one of those. As for colour, I dunno, my natural colour is like a mid brown and I've died it dark brown, purple-y brown and like a reddy colour. It looks like shit now cause I haven't died it since January or something. I've never had highlights or anything, they seem like too much hard work. I dunno I think you would suit it really dark, like a chocolate brown, or maybe reddish like this:

OH! I just got a mental picture of you with a little bob and a fringe in that colour! That would look hot. Kinda like Katie Holmes:

That's really drastic though. I'd have my hair cut like that if I wasn't so terrified of having short hair. You'd suit it like this too, less dramatic but still a big change

Hmmm but you don't want to cut it do you? Okay I am rubbish at giving advice... dye it dark and get a side fringe, that's what you should do if you want a change but don't want to loose the length and don't want lots of hassle. Yes.

I like the look of your hair as it is now. Great length and a healthy natural looking colour. Don't go blonde, to much maintance, as it grows out it looks shit.

I reckon you should just get it re shaped (re layered) and an inch cut off the ends to tidy ready for summer. Remember how long it has taken for your hair to grow since when you first started on S-B with short hair.

If you really want to colour your hair then I suggest a natural auburn colour with a burnette base to give it depth. Will highlight nicely in the day and a rich colour at night.

I agree with Satisfied. I think your hair looks great at the moment. And i think you would look good with a brunette/auburn colour.
