I'm not sure if this is where this question is suppose to go, but I guess this is a good a place as any. I want to start running. Just a jog around town every couple of days. I have some shoes, but the area that I lack in is the sports bra. I've actually never worn one, and the main reason being that I don't like how thin the material is (when it's cold EVERYone knows). Also, I'm a huge fan of the under wire. Is there anyplace that would sell a sports bra that has more padding and an under wire like an everyday bra? If anyone knows and can tell me, that'd be awesome

I got a couple that were not too thin at Target. They didn't have extra padding, but they're like heavy duty sports bras. Look for ones that look like cotton on the outside... usually those have much more substance to them. You could try Academy or REI, but they'll be more expensive. I'd start looking at Target first though. Try them on and see if they feel comfortable for you.

Do they even make sports bras with underwire? That just sounds really uncomfortable to me, like it would chafe my skin. I'd say go with the REI Activity line or Addidas. I love my addidas sports bras they are incredibly comfy. A good sports bra does not make your nipples stand out. Also the worst is when you have nasty sweaty tits so get a sports bra that lets you breathe once again REI and Addidas are amazing.

You need to read what the bras are meant for. Typically the thin ones aren't meant for high intensity activities. More walking, light step aerobics, cycling, etc.

The thicker ones with thicker bands underneath and thick straps are usually meant for running, and jogging. I don't think they make them with underwire, but the ones with the really thick bands provide a similar feel.

If you REALLY wanted to, I suppose you could throw a sports bra over top of a regular bra. I know some hardcore runners often use more than one sports bra. I don't know how comfy it would be.

As for nipples, the thicker ones don't usually cause much trouble - but if you are overly worried about it - you could always wear a tanktop with a built in bra over top, to help a bit. But I find the best sports bras are the ones that smoosh you in so much you don't have boobs anymore. No room for nipples to stickout. Or you could get those pastie type things to cover your nipples, it'll prevent chafing, too.

I've also found the cheaper ones to be decent if you're not running all day every day.
I love all the things that we should fear, and Im not afraid of being here....
