I have this pair of boots that are $180. I think I've purchased 3 pairs in the last 5 or 6 years. They're black boots that I wear on a regular basis (when it's not summer). They are so comfortable and I always know what to expect from them. I am totally cool with spending that much on them, because I know what I'm getting. I tried buying another pair of boots one time because they were about half of the price. They hurt my feet so bad and I ended up having to buy the expensive boots that I originally wanted, anyway. So, I'm better off going with the boots that I know I love.

I won't spend over $200 on shoes but i might spend up to $200 on them. I haven't spend over a $100 in years back in the day when my mom used to buy my shoes for me my limit was $150. Now that i'm a poor college student this all makes me cringe.
I bought a new pair of boots last month for $90, totally worth it. My feet love me for saving them from getting frost bite.

They say black but the pic looks like my boots, a very dark brown. Darker than the chocolate color they have on the site.
No real max here, quality, fit and looks determine it. Shoes are one place I refuse to scrimp. You only get one set of feet. I normally pay from 130-150 for work shoes/boots. Dress shoes in the 200-300 range, casual around 100-150. Sneaks...I like Asics, they fit my feet well and hold up well to my weight compressing them for days upon end. So whatever feels good in them is what I get, no matter the price.

stuff is just stuff. your emotional health is much more important. holding raging anger in is more harmful than your faggot-assed tv that probably deserves to get its ass beat anyway.
I said anything over $200, but only because I want to justify "special" shoes. My soccer cleats and hiking boots, specifically, are over $100 bucks, but my casual and dress shoes are below. Fit is key, but for dress shoes you have to include how they look as well. For my running sneakers, I could give a rat's ass about how they look, that's got to be about comfort, weight, and support.

I said over 200, but I think the most I've ever spent is not quite $100. I'd have to REALLY love a pair of shoes and want to wear them every day for that price. But I have seen shoes I really like for more than that - so I could see how others who are really into shoes, would spend that much.

i say anything over $200 is a bit much. i think the most expensive pair of shoes i've ever gotten would have to be... well... i dont know. it's been a while. but sometimes nice shoes cost a lot. what determines my buying a shoe would be my exact need for it (for example if i need them for work or dress or keeping me warm). i just got a pair of work shoes. they had to look nice, be black, and i also wanted to be able to wear them outside of work. i just have to break them in (i has blisters on the back of my heels. any ideas on how to soften the back of shoes???) pair of shoes i've gotten before that would be my winter boots.

my book... srsly
I don't spend much on shoes. Oh I have in the past. But I'm hard on shoes. I'll beat the hell out of a $150 pair of shoes the same as I will a pair of $20 shoes. I'm lucky to get any shoes that last over a year. Usually I just buy ked type tennis shoes for daily wear. (No dressing up at a plumber's shop.) For dress up or special occasion shoes I'll spend anywhere from $20 to $50. I do have one pair of boots that I spent $100 on. I don't get the chance to wear them much down here - too warm - so they have lasted well over time. For me, it's pointless to spend big bucks on shoes. Like I said, they'll die a hard death regardless of what I spend on them. I don't know what I do but I come by it honestly - my mother is the same way.

I'm like Ruby. Shoes is shoes. They should be comfortable and do their job properly. I can't count the number of people I know who've bought uncomfortable but fashionable shoes and had to buy another pair for comfort purposes. I usually find a pair of deck shoes or skate shoes does me nicely. There's a Vans outlet near my house so it's usually a no brainer because they tend to be shoes I can get for around £20 which are very comfortable, look pretty good and will last me for a year. That's what you want from shoes. I understand if you want specialised shoes then that's a different matter. You're not going to get some decent FMBs (Fuck Me Boots) on the cheap and the same goes for good hiking shoes etc...
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
As a guy, it's hard to justify spending over a G on shoes. You can get a decent pair of Ferragamos for a few hundred and not embarrass yourself in public with Kenneth Coles or whatever cheap POS you buy at Payless.
For girls, you have to spend a bit more. Louboutins and Manolos can be had for for under 2 G's so that's a reasonable ceiling.
I am more of quality over quantity. I have spent over 800 on a pair of shoes, but have had them for over 8 years. I buy classic styles, so I don't mind spending money if they are going to last, and are comfortable.
Ever wonder about those people who spend $2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward. ~ George Carlin
Wow I can't believe I missed this topic cos I love shoes haha.
I've just ordered some shoes online and I paid quite a bit but mainly shipping and postage and packing fees so they ended up quite expensive.
I like quality but am also a sucker for style. So I said nothing over $200.
What I'm wondering is why Retro hasn't stopped by.![]()
And I'm also really happy no one seems to give a shit about whether they're in current fashion! That's beautiful.
