My roomate were over at my grandmother's house for dinner and we got onto the topic of ghosts. Both of them have had experiences with ghosts. In fact, a hell of a lot of people i know have heard or seen ghosts. I am very logical, and never believed in ghosts, but I can think of 6 people i know offhand that have experienced a ghost. These are people I trust, and they swear by their stories.

Have you, or close friend or family member ever had an experience with ghosts?
Peter: "Don't worry...I read a book about this sorta thing once."
Brian: "Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't...nothing?"
Peter: "Oh yeah..."

My nan has, and my mum has witnessed things happen at my nans house.
My nan once claimed she thought I had walked into her bedroom late one night, but I looked a bit younger, and was wearing old-fashioned clothes.
She said she literally sat-up and said 'gemma, what are you doing here?' before I dissapeared.

What was strange about that, is that my mum had a miscarriage a couple of years after i was born, and when my mum went to see a medium the guy told mum that her daughter was being looked after by my great - nan, and that she is okay.

I've had no experiences with ghosts personally, but I same as you, know alot of people who have said they have.

I know a lot of people that claim to have had experiences with ghosts. I don't know if this really counts but in my old apartment we had this long hallway that was always dark, and at the same time every night my dog would go into the hallway and stand there staring at the same spot in the hall and growl. I mean her hair would stand up on end and you would't be able to move her from that spot. It was so weird.

My boyfriend and his co-workers claim to have a ghost at the radio station he works at.

My aunt lives on the reservation up north of me by the old sanitarium, and strange shit is always happening at her house. The house is connected by a tunnel to the sanitarium and one night my aunt was taking a shower and turned around to get her shampoo and she swears there was a little boy in the shower with her that touched her stomach and vanished. It was odd because she was preggers at the time. I don't know if she was shitting me or not but i really believe her.
thats all i am?..a piece of meat?...

I have on two occasions, both at my grandparents house.. once when i was about 7 years old i was playing on my sega megadrive (good ole days) and it was getting pretty hot so i went and opened the window, about 40-50 seconds after i looked at the window and starred for about ten seconds, it closed and locked by itself... the strange thing was that i was'nt bothered by this at all and jus carried on with what i was doing....

the other i was about 10yrs and was sleeping in my grandparents house, i woke up at about 3am and all i could see pasted all over the walls were faces, they were coming out of the walls, i even rubbed my eyes and they were still there, and then i jus shit myself and hid under the covers until i fell asleep again..

And i wasn't trippin on acid!!!
Damn its been a while!

I've always wondered about this: just after Kurt Cobain died, my sister and I went to listen to a cassette tape of Nevermind. We'd listened to it before. But this time, the entire tape was backwards. The actual tape played backwards. We tried it on multiple stereos in the house. Rewound, fast-forward. Backwards. I didn't let her listen to it any further so I couldn't say whether there were "messages" of some kind. I ripped all the tape out. I'm a chicken. I really don't think she was messing with me and if she was, I'm still not sure how that could happen, seamlessly, as it was.

My sister and I used to share a wall growing up, each of our beds next to it, and she'd often wake up in the night and hear me crying through the wall and come in to see what was the matter and see that I wasn't even there, and stuff like that. She'd often ask me why I was crying the night before when I had been sleeping like a baby. There was also one occassion where she and I both were sitting in one room, and through the kitchen we heard a HUGE crash in the living room. We both froze and looked at each other, and then went in there to check the damage. It sounded like all the glass and plates had fallen and shattered off the corner shelf all over the floor-it was LOUD and LONG. In the room, nothing was out of place. My parents were asleep upstairs above the room and didn't hear anything.
There were things like that in the house, but it mostly seemed to be cetnral around my sister and I.

I think that ghosts or spirits do exist to some people, but that other people, like me, are thankfully oblivious, and maybe even repel spiritual activity, while other people are sort of conduits to it. Who knows.

I dont really think that I believe in ghosts. I think a lot of the time people like to pretend something is happening even when they know it isnt because it can be fun to be scared.
My ex's uncle went to Vietnam instead of his brother because his brother ( my ex's dad) had a wife and she was pregnant or whatever at the time. Anyway, his uncle died while he was there. When my ex was growing up he had this tv set that every few days or so would go to a blue screen for a few seconds in the middle of whatever they were watching. He was watching tv with one of his friends and they were arguing over whether ghosts were real or not and matt said "okay if ghosts are real then my uncle will make the screen go blue right now" and it did... so that is why he believes in ghosts lol.
I grew up in this old farm house that was built in the 30's. One time our septic system died and my parents spent days on the side of our house digging trying to fix it. My mom found this box filled with porcelin doll faces. She brought it into the house for my sisters and I to see and we put it inside the toy room. We all left to go to church the next morning and when we came home the faces were gone and there was candle wax dripped up and down the stairs but the door to the stairs was locked.

I definately believe in ghosts. Always have done.

I used to think my house was haunted. There was a rumour that a school teacher died in my sister's room but i don't think it's true. But strange things did used to happen. I put something on a shelf, not on the edge, like, right in the middle so it couldn't fall off, and i'd turn my back and it would fall on the floor. I'd also put things away and when i looked they wouldn't be there, then i'd find them in the most bizzare places.
Also, i was in my bedroom one night, and my 2 dogs were sitting on the end of my bed. Then all of a sudded Mutley was just staring into space, and he was freaking me out. Then Cindy started staring at the same spot. They say that dogs can see ghosts, and that when a ghost is around the air goes cold, so i put my hand where they were looking and the air was colder than it was it the rest of the room. Then the dogs started barking at this empty space. I was so freaked out. I just ran into my mum and dad's room and they just told me to stop being stupid and go back to bed. When i went back in they were still staring and growling so i chased them out of my room and pretended like i was oblivious to what was happening so i wouldn't be a scared.

My Nan died in '98, and she left her house to my uncle and his fiance (she didn't live to see them get married or have a baby, Louise) Well one night we were round at my Nan's old house, which was now my uncles, and Louise was asleep in her cot upstairs. The baby moniter was on, and we all heard a womans voice talking softly on the moniter, although we couldn't work out what the voice was saying. My uncle went upstairs to check it out, but there was no one there, and Louise was awake in the cot smiling. We think it was my Nan saying hi to her, as she didn't live to see Steven's kid. I don't find it spooky though, it's nice.

But the freakiest thing ever, was the nightmare thing.
Ever since i could remember, i'd had the same nightmare every single night. I'd be in my bed, and people would be talking loudly downstairs, so i'd get out of bed to go down and tell them to shut up. But when i got onto the landing, there would always be some evil, witchy thing, which i could never remember the face of. I'd run down the stairs to get away, but once i reached the bottom i couldn't move. It was like there was an invisible wall around me. The witchy thing would walk down really slowly, and when it got to me i'd wake up. I had this dream EVERY night. On the day that my Nan died (i was 8) i went to bed and had this nightmare, as usual, BUT, this time, for the first time ever, when i got to the bottom there was no invisable wall, i ran away from the witch, and there was this man with a ponytail there, and the witch thing died.

I've never had that nightmare since.

I think it's really creepy and strange that as soon as my Nan died those nightmares that i'd always had went away. But it's also comforting, in an odd way, it's like she knew how much they scared me and made them go away.

o___o

Gogospeedracer, if i saw a little boy in the shower with me, I firmly believe i would have a mental breakdown
S'pecially if the kid looked like this:

Cant say i have ever had a ghost experience first hand. Though id freak out if i ever did, it would give me some hope of for afterlife, even if that is eternal limbo on earth.

Mom tells me freaky shit has happened in our house before though.
She called me RIGHT after one of her 'experiences'... happened only a few years ago. She was screaming at our bird (Parrot... the thing never shuts up... its a Sun Conure) because it was freaking out, and my music book (for my keyboard) flew across the room and smashed into the bird cage. Dunno if my mom has telekinetic powers or what, but to me that sounds pretty cool! Shut the bird RIGHT up
That would be one of the few experiences i wouldnt mind seeing first hand...

Im very logical too. Therefore i hav justified a theory on why ghosts could exist.
Seeing ghosts could be attributed to fluxuations in spacetime causing parrallel phenomenon between dimentions in which case one or both parties will be given a glimpse at some allterior perhaps parallel world.

As for experiences... one of my really close friends has had a lot. mabe she can channel supernatural stuff of whatever but shes pretty skiddish. She sees her old grandma who use to mistreat her one time she saw the red like real pretty eyes shes seen a dark figure thats been in her room and some old fashion girl it might just be hallucinations but shes dead serious i could go into it alot more

Genix youve just inspired me to go post a topic about uaiga boards(cant spell) ive had some pretty strange expiriences w/ those
You and I together in our lives
Sacred ties would never fray
Then why can't I let myself tell lies
And watch you die every day

Is it all just wasted time
Can you look at yourself
When you think of what
You left behind...

Eh..

I remember one thing happening to me when i was in about 4th grade that reduced to me near hysteria.

I was sitting on my bed, getting ready to go to bed when i hear this fluttering on my ceiling...so i look up to to see if there was a bug/moth on the ceiling and there was nothing. So I just ignore it and it starts to get louder so i start to get scared because i cant figure out whats causing it.

I make my dad come in the room and he couldnt even hear it, and i started crying because i was scared. He got mad at me because he thought it was my imagination.

Well after the lights were out, i was lying in my bed terrified (i scared easy anyways okay?) like i wasnt even moving a muscle. And like my fucking bed started creaking even though i wasnt moving. And it started to lean downwards towards the right edge by my feet. Like someone was putting their knee/hands/or sitting on the edge of the bed.

I did not get any sleep that night and i dont sleep in that room anymore.

I have seen 2 people from the spirit world and have heard the odd spirit without them presenting themselves a couple of times. The most recent was only about 3 weeks ago when I heard a guy say "hello sonya" in my right ear while I was in the bathroom. The voice sounded like Mark's, my hubbies best mate that died 8 yrs ago, no one else was home at the time. But when you see or hear them you wonder if you where imagining it and you stand there replaying in your mind did I just see him or hear him.
I have only seen a guy who looked like he was in his 20's, that was in February 2002 a week after my oldest daughter set her bedroom on fire, apparently he is her guardian and was watching over her after the incident. He looked as real as me standing infront of someone alive and looking at them. I thought he was a house intruder and when I followed to the room he went into, there was no one there.
The other spirit I have seen was in the house I grew up in. I was quite young when I first saw this old man outside my bedroom door, and I saw him a few times, always outside my bedroom in the hallway, but I often felt his presents, especially when I was home after school on my own.

My mum has seen spirits alot. In the house I grew up in she didn't see any but did hear one who she thinks was her father, he was in the doorway of her bedroom and mum was sitting on her bed looking out the window, when she heard him say "so this is where you are" apparently thats what her dad use to always say when she was growing up and he would lean against the doorway and say that..
In the house she use to live in a couple of years ago she would often see this young lady. The stories would send shivers down your spin, it got so bad that my mum moved out of her bedroom and started sleeping in another bedroom. My Dad was living in Aussie at the time and mum was living on her own until the house sold, so she could join my dad.

Surprisingly i understood it, even more surprisingly i have though about the same thing over and over. Like in doing daily tasks im actually intruding on other's lives in parallel dimensions.
hmm ...
reminds me of the parallel Futurama episode with the box that contained their own dimension...

my mom saw her mom a week after she died. my mom also grew up in a haunted house that was like 250 years old so ALOT of people died in it. the reason they moved was because of it.
