My brother and I were a bit drunk and his girlfriend's hipster vegan sister was over and she had heartburn and was being whiney about it. Our logic was to give her milk because we get heartburn quite a bit and milk helps, but we knew she wouldn't drink it unless we told her it was soy and lied by saying that it would have the same effect on heartburn. Apparently she's a sucky vegan anyway because she didn't even know the difference.

I mentioned it to a few people and they're acting like we did something terrible and I'm like "wtf it's just milk, it's good for her." She went on about how milk is just pus blah blah blah. Hope she liked our pussy goodness, and for her information we buy milk from local farms with "happy cows" and no growth hormones.

So we gave a vegan girl whole milk and told her it was soy. Is this really as terrible as people are telling me? I find it really amusing in retrospect, of course my logic was flawed because I had been drinking but people are acting like I just did something morally wrong.

Same thing happened with my sister when she accidently ate chicken and said it was the best tofu she'd ever eaten. Her husband swore me to secrecy.

If she found out she would be super cut and It's not fair that her devotion to not eating animal products has been hindered as people's choices should be respected but in all honesty you would be doing her a favour by not telling her incase she gets angry or even guilty

I voted "who the flock cares". If she didn't know the difference, and it wasn't physically harmful to her, then too bad so sad.

Now, if it were something like giving someone tea sweetened with sugar as opposed to sugar free tea, that could be harmful (think diabetic).

Hahaha what, I don't understand these vegetarian/vegan people. I eat both tofu and meat and I can certainly tell the difference... I can tell the difference between milk and soy milk too since I drank soy living in the dorms because it lasted longer than regular milk. They're so different, maybe people have retarded taste buds.

This reminds me of my dad and uncle who used to terrorize my grandpa because he's a vegetarian (for religious reasons), but he especially hates pork. He loves bread and so they would try and hide bits of ham in rolls and get him to eat it. Ahhhahah, guess the douchery runs in the family

I get vegitarians, if I wasn't poor, and could be satisfied with just vegetables, I wouldn't eat meat. Vegetables are much more tasty than meat, but meat is filling and satisfying. But vegans are fucking alien to me. I can't see how someone can be vegan for any other reason than to talk about how vegan they are. And for that, I really cant respect them. I would probably have told her it was milk right before she swallowed so she could have a half second to think about whats more important, her heartburn or not drinking milk

Thats excluding religious reasons, which most people don't do anyway

I have a friend who's somewhere between vegan and vegetarian.. I know that if she ever realized she'd accidentally eaten meat, she'd feel sick and horribly guilty. I see it as kind of a religion, in a way. I wouldn't want anyone to trick someone into going against their beliefs, to me, that's just.. a bit cruel. Of course the milk isn't going to physically hurt her but if she has something moral against drinking milk, she shouldn't have been basically forced to out of omission.

Respecting other people's wishes. It's not the shitty thing to do.

Ghetto, say I drugged you, and then went down on you while you were unconscious.

You wake up in the morning completely unaware of what happened, no physical damage or harm was done to you, no mental harm was done to you, so basically, it's all good. Right?

Haha. That's a terrible comparison, Tri. Being raped and drinking milk are not the same thing.

I don't think it's the worst thing ever, by any means. However, I have some vegan/vegetarian friends and they get physically ill if they eat meat. And some people don't drink milk because they're lactose intolerant (and vegan at the same time), which wouldn't be fun if they accidentally drank milk. Especially whole milk. Why didn't you just give her some Tums?

It's funny you mention that Greaser because I suggested it to her first and she was like "ewwwwwww". She was kind of a humongous pansy.

Aimee- we don't even keep Tylenol in the house for headaches. There are literally no chemicals or over the counter medicines in our house.

Tia- she could have said "no soy milk won't help heartburn, you're full of shit" i mean, if she even knew anything about it or was able to decipher the difference, she wasn't "forced" into anything. But yes I do feel a little bad about it, I wouldn't have done it had I been sober. My brother and I were genuinely trying to help her heartburn, the intention wasn't to "trick" her or be mean.

I find the differences in opinion on this pretty interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, no harm, no foul. But I'm not vegan.

I voted its kind of awful because you gave her whole milk...I can't drink whole milk without feeling like shit afterward. I get really bad stomach aches from whole milk because im so used to drinking Soy.

Just because she can't tell the difference between whole and soy doesn't mean she's a sucky vegan. I feel like you would have done this even if you were sober to test the waters. But I believe Tia said it best. Most Vegans are Vegan because of moral concerns relating to animal use, etc. So ya you are in the wrong for giving the girl whole milk.

I used almsot exactly that argument in some thread a few years ago (minus the not knowing about it) and I'm sure you absolutely slated me for it.

anyhoo, i don't see why you find it funny to force something on someone, if someone's a really commited vegan then it might mean as much to them as a christian's faith (also, cereal, i don't get the difference if they are veggie for a religious reason), or an atheists for that matter. One of the most horrible things that ever happened to me was some cocksucker shoving cake in my mouth, i love cake, but to have it forced on me against my will was shit.

I really hope some little part of you feels bad about what you did, because to me it seems pretty obvious that it's not a very nice thing to do.

EDIT: sorry i just read that you do feel a little bad.

also, i think it is forcing if she's doing something she doesn't understand, look at statutory rape laws....(not to say it's the same scale)

and also, i've accidentally eaten meat a couple of times, i refuse to feel bad about a genuine mistake, but i would feel bad if that was done to me.

    end of blathering
