She probably doesn't like her food. Try a different brand.
So, I got a new puppy. She's the same kind of dog as the one I inherited from my dad (yorkie) and she's adorable. Her name is Molly.
I'm concerned because I can't really get her to eat or drink. She stayed in the bathroom today when I went to work and she barely ate any food or drank any water. How can I get her to eat? Also, I catch her eating the other dog's food all the time, but she won't eat her on food. Is it better for her to eat that food or none at all? Will she eventually just get hungry enough to eat? I'm really concerned....

The original owners gave me the food and have been giving it to her since she was born. They asked me to continue feeding her the same brand for the first year and then I can wean her off it and switch to a less expensive brand. They didn't say anything about her not liking the food that they've been giving her. Do you still think that the brand is the issue and I should try another one?

Ahhhh okay. She's probably just going through a transitional period - getting to know and fit in with her new 'pack'. Try mixing the food the owner's gave you with the other food - like a 70/30 mix with hers being the most.. I am assuming that the food the old owner's gave you is a type of puppy food whereas the other dogs' food is not. If that is the case then yes there is a difference and she should eat the 'puppy' chow. But if she gets stubborn, then adult food is better than no food.
She is adorable by the way.![]()

i think ruby's right about adjusting to a new environment.
you could also get some of the milk formula they make for puppies and pour that on top of the food you're giving her... most animals love that stuff.
suuuper cute!
'Cause I'm that fool that broke the key- I'm unlockable so don't check me- I got weight on my shoulders and things on my mind- The sky is falling and I'm falling behind... No shame in my game just par for the path- I try to hone my craft because at hand's the task- But I find I'm not playing with a full deck- I'm up to my neck like Toulouse Lautrec
OK, for starters, Awwwww! Too cute!
Whenever anyone would sit for my dogs away from home or we went away with them, they would go for what seemed like days without eating. Seemed that anywhere but home was just to strange to eat at. I'm with Ruby, give her time. She won't let herself starve!

Those are excellent ideas! Thank you everyone!! I was able to get her to eat some of her food out of my hand today, but not too much. I will try some (if not all!) of those suggestions.

Rub bacon on it.
Ayuh, not dead yet. Might change that with an S1000RR though
boon was the exact same way when i first brought him home from the shelter... didn't eat for days, but he'd eat out of my hand...
it'll just take a lil time![]()
