no doubt the same thing that happened on all of those other "end of the world"...but then again i haven't seen the movie...
Mayan Calender "Both the Hopis and Mayans recognize that we are approaching the end of a World Age... In both cases, however, the Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear." - Joseph Robert Jochmans
I watched the film 2012 the other evening, and it has bothered me ever since. I believe it is a huge disservice to the Myan people and what their calendar predicts. Leave it to Hollywood to expond on the notion this what the World is heading into.
I would be very interested in what you think, and what you believe will happen on December 22, 2012.

"Hitler promised not to invade Czechoslovakia Jeremy, welcome to the real world!"
Dunno what will happen. Maybe I'll be eating some chicken. I'd like to think that I'd be eating some chicken in a warm place somewhere. As for 'world ages' or end of the world scenarios however...nah.
So many different people and civilisations have predicted similar things but nothing ever happens. Same with the Mayans. It's a nice plot for a book or a film but other than that...nada.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
I have not paid too much attention to the situation, but in general it's predicting a rapid geomagnetic reversal, right? I've also heard that present-day Mayan's aren't running around like Chicken Little and its their calendar. I kind of like those days when the world is supposed to end and doesn't. Though it is hard not to chuckle. What is with the fascination with creating doomsday scenarios anyway?
That prophecy as you quoted about sounds like any tarot card, not the end of the world.
I liked the Millennium bug. That was great. "Planes are going to fall out of the sky! Assembly-line robots are going to rise up and and kill us all!!!!!" And what hapenned? Oh, absolutely nothing...

Lol. The people who believe this junk know nothing about the Mayan calendar. Which, as it happens, runs in cycles- when one cycle ends, that's not 'it.' It just restarts again from the beginning.
Let's not even mention how funny it is that these people also think the Mayans were some big all-powerful all-seeing race of psychics or whatever. Really? Really?!
In 2012, I will hopefully have a job. I'll have been in the workforce for about a year. Let's hope. And on December 24th or whatever the exact date is supposed to be [people have exact dates], I will.. eat some chocolate and rejoice?
It's not just the mayans, its practically every religion and civilisation has some kind of prophecy relating to 2012, or various other prophecies of things that have already occurred that lead up to the end of the world, or some big change.
Personally I quite like the spiritual interpretation of what will happen in 2012.
At the same time I'm also hoping and praying for apocolypse scenario.
However, I won't stop making plans for 2013.
Heh, seems like your issue with us not doing good is due to our own *selfish human nature.
I'm not so sure an post-apocalyptic world plunged into anarchy is going to leave us any better off in that regard...

"Shit happens. Character is how you react to it."
I can see that everyone here is pretty much on the same page, which is great. I do believe there will be many changes, only so slow to happen most of will never notice.
Thanks
