    Question

I was taken away from my mum and put into foster care when I was just 2 years old because I nearly died three times caused by bruising which my mum couldn’t explain. My dad was never there I don't know who he is, I haven’t seen my mum since I was 2 and I am now 18. I was put into foster homes in Birmingham until I was 7. Then 2 social workers adopted me in Nottingham I went to school until I was 13. When I found out I also had a brother in foster care.

I wasn’t a well behaved child and that’s probably what caused my adoptive parents to put me back into foster care. They put me with my brother in Doncaster. However he grew up on the streets in Moss Side Manchester, and so he would run away to Manchester to be with his mates. I then was interested and started going along when he was 18. He was involved in running drugs in a gang called GOOCH, we were robbing clubs, selling drugs, shooting at rival gangs being shot at. He was shot in 1999 in front of me and I was shot in the knee, he died and I'm fine (kind of).

After that I stayed in Moss Side grew up amongst his mates and that was my family. Its amazing the difference in reaction with somebody's respect towards you when you point a gun at them! I dont condone it but its a way to live when you have nothing around you to base your emotions and feelings.

    Here is some information that is now on the internet about that incident;

GOOCH A mainly black gang that operates out of the Moss Side area of south central Manchester. They take their name from Gooch Close and are split by age. The older original thirtysomething members have started to move away from the area, though the younger trigger kids are still predominately Moss Side residents

    Gang war
In 1999 a vicious gang war, claimed several lives. Behind those and these latest killings, there seems to be some logic. Only one thing appears to link them, a terrifying recklessness on the part of the gunmen, towards an 18 yr old youth.

James Mulgrew, a known gangster respected by many was shot dead after a dispute between him and his girlfriend. The Greater Manchester police explain, James Mulgrew found out that his girlfriend had slept with a youth from a rival gang. He then proceeded to make his way over to Jamel Devires house armed with a hand gun accompanied by his foster brother and gang members Craig Alexander, Tyrone Right allias C-TONE, and Tramaine Farel, all were armed with handguns. They then kicked the front door of the house. Then three shots were heard from inside the house and so ensued a long and irrerversible gang war. James Mulgrew was found lying dead in the doorway of the house, shot once in the chest. Inside a Jamel Devires was found unconscious shot in the arm and knee.

Im only writing this to wake up some people who are giving up hope and are complaining about the littlest things, its about time that people knew that everything isnt wrapped in bubble packaging. Make the most of what you've got.

And dont judge people by what you first see or hear because having gone through that I’ve channeled my anger and emotions into boxing and am now currently a semi-pro boxer living in a flat in Nottingham, and like to think myself to still have feelings . I also want to find love and to be loved,WHO DOES'NT!!.

I still have connections and do go and see old friends but I dont get involved in that way of life and that’s my choice.

Im not trying to preach and be a twat, yeah everyones got there own problems but there's always a way, its up to you. Please the next time you see on the news that somebody’s been shot or something between turf wars dont judge them because theres always a reason, that bit of estate or girl there fighting over is the only thing they have of their own.

Anyway sorry if you dont agree But I just needed to get that off my chest THANKYOU

C-Tone, your story is an incredible one. Thank you for posting it. It certainly allows me to see a perspective on things that I otherwise would not be privy to.

Good on you for channeling those emotions into something more productive... sounds like you've really pulled your shit together, and considering your turbulent childhood, that is quite a feat.

Cheers, and good luck with your boxing.

    PR.

Sorry about the death of your brother and your shitty up bringing.

I have a couple of questions though, Where you arrested and did you go to jail for being involved in the incident where your brother was killed?

How much longer did you stay with the gang after your brother was shot?

    Cheers

I was arrested and put in prison on remand (Glenn Parver). However luckily there really wasnt any incriminating evidence just that an eye witness had seen me outside the house as it was taking place.

So the charges of possesing a fire arm were dropped as a lack of evidence . And I was put in a secure unit for 3 months as C.I.D were concerned that I would try to avenge and calculate to retaliate my brothers death. To this day Ive always had links to the gang and regulaly go up to Manchester to see them, Concidering they pretty much brought me up and are the closest thing to a family. However I dont get deeply involved in what goes on anymore I still dabble and make some money here and there, but who doesnt.

Unfortunatly I get Manchester CID coming down to Nottingham regularly asking questions about different people and goings on. And Nottingham police have got to know me but where theres a will theres a way!!!! And just like most people I just want a girl to settle down with and get on with my life!
