Full story is available from the BBC.Three left in race for 2012 Games
London, Madrid and Paris remain in the vote to host the 2012 Olympics after Moscow and New York were eliminated in the decisive vote.
The trio are battling it out in the poll of International Olympic Committee (IOC) members.
Lord Coe fronted London's final presentation in Singapore, backed by messages from Tony Blair and the Queen.
It is thought Paris and London are the front runners to win the race - the result will be announced at 1246 BST.
The decision is being made as follows:
* * * The electronic ballot started at 1126 BST. Moscow and New York polled least votes in the opening rounds.
* * * Only IOC members, inspectors and administrators have been allowed into the room where the vote takes place.
* * * IOC members are voting in rounds until one city has more than 50% of the votes.
* * * The city with the least votes drops out each time, and we learn which city has been eliminated after each round.
* * * Once a final decision has been reached, the vote will conclude and IOC president Jacques Rogge will announce the result at 1246 BST to the delegates and the waiting world.
* * * In the event of an unprecedented dead heat where final candidates poll the same amount of votes in the decisive last round, the ultimate decision would rest with the IOC's executive board.

How nice is the life of a pond?
I just know we're going to make such a shambles of the Olympics. Especially compared to Sydney in 2000.

Sydney kicked arse, it was a pretty exciting time even though I really do not like the Olympics. Congrats to London, I'm sure they will do well.

Perhaps you could join one of the 3 million people who have already signed up to volunteer and do your part to make it less of a shambles?
The Olympics should be sweet. I'm well up for sitting off all day with a few reefers watching something random like Synchronised Diving.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

did you see the footage of the announcement in paris? goddamn. everyone kind of went "OOOooh...." cos they thought they were going to win. and then people cried. i didn't know people cared that much about it.
she's not that kind of a girl, booger!
Just think of this, the only Olympics you will need to beat in many people's minds is Bejiing 2008. Athens sucked, an entire hemisphere didn't see Sydney, Atlanta sucked, and 1992 is too distance to be remembered by most.

Just wait until they give the flame to some disabled kid, then rush the barriers and light the doobie. You'd become an international hero of pot smokers.
