Thread: Anti Americanism...

The only other anti-fill-in-the-blank I know that is comparable to anti-americanism is anti-semitism, which refers to Jews; even though Jew is strictly a religious term and Semite includes everyone of Semitic origin in the Middle East, Arab and Hebrew alike.
If you disagree with anything or anyone "Jewish" no matter how wrong they may be then you're labeled an anti-semite. And you don't want to be labeled an anti-semite of course because Jews went through the Holocaust and deserve to do as they please.
If you disagree with the tactics of the American Empire than you are similarly labeled anti-american. And you don't want to be labeled anti-american because Americans love everyone and only fight for freedom and justice.

Except for a few fringes, people are not considered anti-American for opposing the war. People are considered anti-American when they make comment in praise of Al Queda and saying that those who died on 9/11 deserved it and other simple hate speech.

So how come I've not heard of people being accused of being anti-British when they try to rationalise the July 7th bombing?

I don't know what 'hate speech' you're referring to, but if you're implying that attempting to logically assess the motives behind an action is hateful, you are standing in the way of progress.

How is that the same as saying that they deserved to die, as you previously announced?

It's all about context. In the context of terrorism, they were innocent, even heroes. In the context of American society, they are responsible for the slavery and exploitation of the weak and the poor.

That's by no means a crime worthy of death, but it's also foolish to ignore this fact, and announce that the people in the twin towers were 100% good people, for the sole reason that they were killed by 100% bad people.

It makes no sense.
