Can't people just set their phones to vibrate? It's infinitely less annoying and painful than that!
And it sounds like this, and that article is available here. Can you hear it? I can, and I have to say, it hurts.Students are using a new ring tone to receive messages in class — and many teachers can't even hear the ring.
Some students are downloading a ring tone off the Internet that is too high-pitched to be heard by most adults. With it, high schoolers can receive text message alerts on their cell phones without the teacher knowing.
As people age, many develop what's known as aging ear — a loss of the ability to hear higher-frequency sounds.[/b]

yeh, like, and uit's going to be just as obvious when they look at the phone regardless of how cunningly they've disguised the ringtone.[/b][/quote]<div class='quotemain'>

Um, but the ringtone doesn't make any difference to that. either you can get away with it or you can't.
Some phones make quite a bit of noise when set to vibrate.
I can't imagine anyone using a ringtone like that for too long. I'd probably kick the shit out of anyone who used something so annoying in one of my classes.
THINK...then post.
Everything is Totally Manageable.
The sound really doesn't bother me... you guys are wusses. I think it's a clever idea.

but that would be an annoying ass ringtone. why cant people just learn to use their cellphones in the correct times & not during school/work/etc.
Well I can hear it, there are teachers younger then me.
I've always found the silent function fairly useful. Or are kids so lazy these days that it's far to much effort to check for your oh so important 14 yr old stuff text messages (assuming they haven't created a 16000hz voice, so they can have conversations) , for the one single hour they are in class for.
