    Yay! Election time

Well, Gordon Brown went down B'ham palace to ask the Queen to dissolve parliament so that we can finally get on with voting in the next government. I'm just listening to Conservative leader David Cameron talking out of his arse saying the words 'real change' every 5 words or so and promising free kitens for all a perfect society. He's got a disturbingly good chance of winning, which is very annoying because he's just a more upper class, snobbier, more out of touch version of Tony Blair. Oh, and whilst Cameron's going on about change, he's not saying it's neccessarily going to be positive change.

So now it's just a case of sitting back and watching the bullshit fly.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

Looks like it will be a real contest. A few months ago it was looking like total anihilation for Labour. Cameron is good fun so this could be interesting. I'm hoping for a minority Labour government in coalition with the LDs. That would rock.

Well, I don't know about it 'rocking' seeing as Labour is basically the same as the Conservatives but it'd definitely be better than having that twat Cameron in charge of the place.

Shall we have a little bet?

I'm going to say Labour pull it out of the bag. With Campbell, Whelan, and Mandelson in the game, they're going to make something special at the last minute, I reckon.

I too have that sneaking suspicion. I reckon maybe people are just going to see right through David Cameron, especially when he seems to be doing an awful lot of talking yet not actually proposing anything.

"Blah blah blah, Britain deserves a better health system blah blah blah, our children deserve a better education system blah blah blah...."

Well, I could stand on a box in the street and say that couldn't I Dave? The problem lad, is how you do those things and improvements in public services are not usually the fruits of budget cuts.

So how do you guys feel about the televised debates? It is a novelty, or will it have a real impact?

    Well, facebook has been buzzing!

The first TV debate seems to have done the Liberal Democrats the world of good and they've shot up in the polls to the point where some pollsters are saying that all three parties are pretty even at the moment.

I don't know if that'll continue right through to the election though. With the TV debates, you have David Cameron who everybody knows is a slimy lying toff, Gordon Brown who's been a crucial part of the best government we've ever had at lying and then you've got Nick Clegg calling the other two liars. So he's in a very good position.
