Chatting to the SA's I know, it sounds like the country is basically at war at the moment, at least worse than it's been for a long time, and it doesn't sound like his death will make anything worse.

meh, no, things are okish here...we were having major potholes problem, but FINALLY they are fixing the road. I think they waited till the last minute to fix them (just before world cup) so they could save money. Who knows, but it was BAD!!!!!!!!!
Crime still high, will always be high because most of the cops are idiots and bullying/raping innocent people. Numerous people are getting beaten up by cops (females too). If a cop tries to pull me over at night, i WILL not pull over, until i'm in a safe area with lots of people around.
Just over a year ago, a taxi driver was trying to hit me with a shambuck while i was in the car, so i pulled my cell out to take a photo of his number plate and him and then he pulled a gun out. I manage to get a photo of his number plate, reported him to the cop and he said he will follow up and give me a call. I'm still waiting for the call...
I don't know anyone who is sad about his death, i think just the Afrikaners that are weeping his death, but they need to do something about the farmers though...too many are being murdered.
