According to him we are overdue for WWIII by 7 years.
In the very late 80's (yes i'll be 73 next year), i remember watching a special on Nostradamus. There were two things that happened in the last 10-12 years that came to fruition with what would seem almost viable predictions.
One was 'A hero's image will be tainted by a bloody glove'. I remeber that distinctly and wondering who that would be, and after the OJ thing, it seemed to make sense.
The other one that was mentioned way back when was about the beginning of the end, and that this would marked by the death of a famous President's son. It said following this event, the Middle East would become much more unstable with war etc. and that in the end it will be two men in a Turban and the Far East that clash with the West. Well, JFK junior has passed on and Bin Laden is hiding along the Chinese/Pakistan border. I'm not sure who the other man in the Turbin could be though, not that these predictions have any relavance mind you, but interesting speculation nonetheless.
Take it for what it is and that is just speculation. I'm not posting this to argue for or against it, just taking a closer look based on what was said. I know alot of these predictions are molded and adjusted after events happen, but for me personally, these were two that heard back then. I'm not a believer in his predictions by any means, just found it interesting.
So .. is it possible that we can destroy ourselves with our present or not-so-distant future technology? In other words can we control or survive our technical infancy? The UniBomber argues in his Manifesto that technology destroyed the Roman Empire and will destroy us.
Carl Sagan was very concerned about this, and said if other civilizations do exist outside our own (in space), they would be much more friendly than hostile because of the wisdom achieved by surviving their technical infancy.
And for the positive side of things - Nostradamus said we can create our own destiny by choosing the correct fork in the road ahead - and Carl Segan - well he really protested against creating more nuclear weapons and advocated strongly to destroy our current stockpiles - a dream of his that we hope is realized someday.

And apocalypse by almost 5
"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." -- Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989
Thats because a) it is mostly by interpretation
and b) He predicted the future by looking at the past, so it's not going be exactly accurate.
He predicted world war iii would be led by the third anti-christ, and the things he wrote were interpreted that the third anti-christ would not be the same as any other leader, but possibly a terrorist. So, he's not doing badly so far, or at least, the people who interpreted it aren't.
I have always been amazed by Nostradamus. It seems that half of his predictions come true and half of them don't. I think maybe his predictions sometimes he couldn't tell apart from just normal thinking and got them confused. Sometimes I have dreams that come true and I get confused as to which ones will and which ones won't.
Life is funny, you can walk down a road several times and never really see it. I guess life has to repeat itself alot so that it finally gets its message across.
Yeah it is interesting .. so .. if his predictions are say on average around 7 years too soon and his predictions only go thru 2004 (which they do), then it can be surmised that we may have a pretty tense year in 2013?
Like in T2 .. 'Anyone not wearing 2000 sunblock is going to have a pretty bad day, get it?' - lol, just a joke there (i hope![]()
he wrote in a bastardized from on latin and his predictions and language so vauge and the conotations so many of the language he decided to scribe them in that they could be twisted to almost anything, I doubt he had any prophetic power, people just use him because it is easy to make him speak for them

I'll never follow./ They can suck on my erection." - Mr. GG Allin

He wasn't a prohphet, he didn't 'see' the future, he was an astrologer.
I thing Penn Jillet (of Penn & Teller) said it best.
"To know the future, and only warn about it in the most oblique manner, would have to be the most evil thing in the world"
I would agree with that. Here is a person who saw Hitler coming? Literally, they could have offed him as a child, or maybe even spoken to him at a key time to encourage him to persue his career as an artist (Adolf loved to paint landscapes, but was laughed out of applying for college because he had difficulties drawing people).
They would be able to tell if earthquakes and other deadly happenings were coming. They could, at a minimum, be able to further their own vision of what they think humanity should be. Granted, that in itself might be pretty heinous, but to have such an ability and not do anything useful with it is ... I do not think it is even possible.
If you saw someone about to cross a street in front of a car, wouldn`t you try to warn them?
Ayuh, not dead yet. Might change that with an S1000RR though

He predicted 911 apparently.* Well, something like we'd all die in 1999, and 1999 is almost 911 backwards.
If that's not a cement argument, I don't know what is.

He didnt predict 9-11.
Hells no. If he would have paid attention to his fortune cookie, he wouldn't be in that situation in the first place.Originally posted by Hellopitbull@Nov 11 2004, 12:50 AM
