All of the oppression and death that has been caused by the church though, it actually isn't a random thing. It's fact. Fair enough, that may be no reason to hate the church of today, but it's still fact.

No, it's not all christians, but it is the leaders of the christian church. The people in charge.
It's what they do that effects the world, and the country (despite the so-called seperation of church and state), and it is them that affect other peoples opinions of your religion, and the people who practice it.
