Yes and no.
Religions, in their infancy, as scientology is have done all sorts of things in their quest to establish themselves. I am not excusing scientology's actions because of their age - only pointing out the similarities.
You're confusing individual acts which aren't connected to the church with church-sponsored acts.
A professed Catholic who commits a crime is not the same thing as The Church of Scientology infiltrating the U.S. Government, with explicit orders from the church's founder.

Your mind can only hold one thought at a time. Make it a positive and constructive one.

Christianity's founder teaches us that science is incorrect, and that knowledge must come second to faith. If we are to become enlightened, we surely can't allow this belief to flourish either. But as society becomes more enlightened, we must recognize the things that are wrong and not allow them to flourish.[/b]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Lothar @ Feb 19 2008, 09:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div>And that is why we're not really becoming more enlightened. I mean, there's the idiot who goes along not really knowing what they're doing or what the consequences of their actions are but then there's the even bigger idiot who knows exactly what's going on but keeps on fucking things up anyway. That is how we are today and sadly, that's not very enlightened. But as society becomes more enlightened, we must recognize the things that are wrong and not allow them to flourish.[/b]
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
Anybody remember the witch hunts and crusades? All the wars, deaths and ridicilousness Christiany brought us?
if truth were an ocean, would it fit in the pool of a human mind?

Heheheh!!!
Sweet as the Punch.Syco- "The Empress is the latter leg of this triad, representing the physical body and the material world. From her comes all the pleasure of the senses and the abundance of life in all its forms. She is also the mother archetype, and through her we get a first glimpse of the power of love in the Tarot." I think this is all representative of awesomly large tits, no?
If scientology wants to charge its members, that's all fine and dandy with me. If they're engaging in criminal activities, they should be prosecuted for them. I don't see what the big deal is.
