yeah, in history or anthropology classes
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>Full story is available here.A leading biologist and education expert called for creationism to be included in science lessons.
The Rev Professor Michael Reiss, director of education at the Royal Society, believes banning creationism from the classroom is likely to backfire with children who hold sincere beliefs.
He wants teachers to be open to discussing creationist ideas. Some creationists reject the concept of evolution and suggest that the Earth is only 10,000 years old.
At the same time they should endeavour to explain scientific theories such as natural selection and the Big Bang.[/b]
In my humble opinion, this guy can take his imaginary friends and fuck right off. Polluting the minds of vulnerable school children with such abhorrent lies should be a fucking crime, and even suggesting such bullshit should send up alarm bells throughout the 'men-in-white-coat' community who, on hearing that alarm, should run into his church, kneecap the prick, and drag him off to Guantanamo. That's what they should use Guantanamo for, people like him.
Blimey, that was a bit much.
Et tu?
yeah, in history or anthropology classes
Inspirational quote on individuality #223: "Lately everyone I know/ has been shittin' all over me/ Hey you, and all of my good friends/ They disowned my fucking friends and me/ I guess it's because/ I gotta go off in my little own direction/ But fuck 'em all. I'll never follow./ They can suck on my erection." - Mr. GG Allin

I think it should be taught in religious education, along with any other religious start of existence theories. it's religion, i don't really agree it should be in English Lit., anthropology or history either. (well, unless you study religious literature and if that falls into something that would be taught in English?) actually, i guess if you're studying anthropology you're going to be doing it at uni, and you're big enough to make your own mind up.
I can kinda see the point of discussing it in science lessons, but maybe more as a way of teaching the scientific method, i.e. you can discuss it, but the teacher would have to lead the discussion and make sure people understand why it doesn't adhere to the scientific method. i.e. 'scientific method requires evidence, how does creationism fit into that context?' but there's lots of things that could be used to make that point. and i'm not really agreeing with exactly what blokey is saying there.
Religion should be taught in church.
Science should be taught in schools.

I think religion should definitely be taught in schools. Not in the "hey this is what's in the bible so it's true" sense, but in an overall study of religion and it's beliefs so we can understand the influences it has had on humanity. To outlaw the study of religion in school is just as ridiculous to me as outlawing the study of evolution. Religion has had a hand in many of the world's most significant events, and has been a driving source for many wars etc.
"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it."
That would be more history than religion. When I say teaching religion in churches I mean the doctrines of religion. Not the impact of varying religions upon the world. Creationism is a doctrine. How it has affected various cultures is history.

Creationsim is a fairy tale. So, I suggest it be taught in a Childrens Lit class right along with The Brothers Grimm and Harry Potter.

I don't think it is a really big deal if it is taught in the schools or not. One part of me says, children should be educated on it, so they can make up their own minds, but I did go to a Catholic school for a while, and had a teacher who tried to choke us with it. So I think it would depend on the teacher, if it is at all possible for someone not to be biased about it, either way then yes. People should be able to know what they believe in, or know why they choose not to believe in something.
My boyfriend went to the same school with me, and he believes there is something out there, but he doesn't believe in religion. One of my friends grew up going to church, and now he is an Athiest. I think kids will make up their own minds as to what they believe, whether they are taught it in school, or out of school.
"You just can't go wrong if you follow your heart and end with a song"
Easy way to solve that.
Explain evolution: "The theory of evolution is blah blah blah"
And then creationism: "Creationism states: God made us. The end."
haha.

I think it should be taught in Comparative Religion classes, but I do think it deserves teaching for those who would listen to it.

This just isn't a debate in regards to Australian schools though (as far as I see). This country isn't overtly religious.
Having to do religious instruction in primary school didn't warp my non-caring-about-religion type attitude, I just played along, it was just another class.
