Well I just don't have the faith to spare at the moment! There's no explanation whatsoever as to 'why' genetic material replicates, it just does. Such is the way of science. We can understand processes but not the reasons for them exisiting. Maybe it's unimportant but maybe not. They're questions for philosophy rather than science methinks. You read much of the logical positivists?
The fact that the field of biophysics is expanding is what makes me so skeptical of the conviction of guys like Dawkins.
I'm a huge fan of the mystery of the universe and I know and understand how little I know and may be capable of knowing yet I still hunger for knowledge. Dawkins' teachings reek to much of triumphalism and a satisfaction of 'knowing' which has previously been reserved for the religious. He could be right but we're a long way off knowing the truth.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.
