Well I just don't have the faith to spare at the moment! There's no explanation whatsoever as to 'why' genetic material replicates, it just does. Such is the way of science. We can understand processes but not the reasons for them exisiting. Maybe it's unimportant but maybe not. They're questions for philosophy rather than science methinks. You read much of the logical positivists?

The fact that the field of biophysics is expanding is what makes me so skeptical of the conviction of guys like Dawkins.

I'm a huge fan of the mystery of the universe and I know and understand how little I know and may be capable of knowing yet I still hunger for knowledge. Dawkins' teachings reek to much of triumphalism and a satisfaction of 'knowing' which has previously been reserved for the religious. He could be right but we're a long way off knowing the truth.
