Yes it's a statement of fact but that doesn't change the fact that's it's not something you want to call someone when being persuasive. I wouldn't call you 'delusional' whilst trying to get you to see my point of view. And nothing I've said is 'generic' because it's all come from me because to be honest with you, I don't think I've ever read an anti-Dawkins article or anything like that.

As for the Pat Robertson comparisson; i think they're both dicks who make the people they represent or seem to represent look like dicks too. I'm not saying that I would be so stupid as to see someone I don't like and decide that all people who shared their beliefs were dicks but there are plenty of people out there who would.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

They are generic, because they're totally re-usable, interchangeable, and don't actually explain the point that you're having trouble making, which is why you feel this way about him.

Does Dawkins call specific people delusional, or does he talk about a delusion which some buy into? Because there's obviously a massive difference there.

Your Pat Robertson comparison is fucking sickening.

Hahaha calm down there man. I've explained plenty of times before why I dislike Dawkins and his smarmy, superior smugness. Your reaction sounds like me when someone explained that Lars Ulrich was a massive bellend and not the God-like all-round sound guy I'd held him up to be.

    Clinton Richard Dawkins, FRS, FRS
The Royal Society of London for the Improvement of Natural Knowledge, known simply as the Royal Society, is a learned society for science, and is arguably the oldest such society in existence.[1] Founded in November 1660, it was granted a Royal Charter by King Charles II as the "Royal Society of London".
The Society today acts as a scientific advisor to Her Majesty's Government...
Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom (often abbreviated to HMG) is the central government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Under the unwritten British constitution, executive authority notionally lies with the monarch but is exercised only by and on the advice of the Cabinet, a collective body of the most senior ministers of the Crown, who are appointed Privy Councillors.
The Divine Right of Kings is a political and religious doctrine of royal absolutism. It asserts that a monarch is subject to no earthly authority, deriving his right to rule directly from the will of God.
The remoter origins of the theory are rooted in the medieval idea that God had bestowed earthly power on the king, just as God had given spiritual power and authority to the church, centering on the pope.
Such doctrines are, in the English speaking world, largely associated with the House of Tudor and the early House of Stuart in Britain and the theology of the Caroline divines who held their tenure at the pleasure of James I of England (VI of Scotland), Charles I and Charles II.

Brew, you're comparing Richard Dawkins to Lars Ulrich now?

Sorry man, your argument has been non-existent.

Payaso, is this possibly some remarkably tenuous link from some right-wing gun-toting Christian conspiracy theorists, designed to prove (while lacking anything substantial) that Dawkins is a hypocrite? How can an atheist work for an organisation which is linked to the monarchy which believes in the divine right of kings, is that where's you're blindly staggering in some terrible attempt to make a point?

I'm not trying to argue anything! I don't need to argue anything because all I'm saying is that I dislike the man. You may not think he comes accross as a smarmy, smug arrogant tool but I do. That is all.

And yes, that was a direct comparisson between Richard Dawkins and Lars Ulrich. In fact, I believe Dawkins is the perfect synthesis of Ulrich, Pat Robertson and David Cameron's gooch.

Clearly belief's where you're going wrong.

And technically you kinda do need to argue something, because you've stated something as fact and now you can't back it up, which is exactly what you accused Gosu of doing. No?

hahaha er, maybe, although I think it's pretty safe to assume that comments to the effect of 'that guy is a dick' are generally taken as opinion.

I'm going to go away and study logic properly so I can forge the perfect statement which is immune to all scrutiny.

Hahahaha well then in that case don't go around saying 'that's not a human right' like that's a fact when it is indeed only your opinion.
*Replace 'that's not a human right' with 'the Pat Robertson of Atheism'.

    Except the actual quote was

I see him as a bit like the Pat Robertson of Atheism
Which is obviously different. What's the problemo?

Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.
I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor.
(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.
It may be a blessing in disguise. ... Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other.
I do NOT see the comparison here, even slightly. Pat Robertson is an all-out insane ****.

You think he's comparable to one of the most loathesome and damaging men on the planet.

And you don't have any actual reasons as to why.

Yep, we can leave it at that, and doing so will leave me wondering about "motivation and spiritual beliefs."

You're being such a tool for no reason whatsoever. I've already said that i'm not comparing him to Pat Robertson in the same way you keep insisting I am. But you refuse to accept that. I then go on to say why I dislike him. Yet you refuse to accept that. Yet you insist on trying to 'argue' something out of me or trying to win an argument which simply does not exist at my end of this conversation.

If I said I found a particular band to be shite would you go on about how I needed to produce evidence to back this up? Would you be questioning any outside motives I had for not liking a particular band? "Maybe you don't like Notorious BIG because you're a racist'.

I'm all for evolutionary biology, genetics, quantum physics and just about any other legitimate science but I dislike one guy so obviously I must have dark motivations or spiritual beliefs which prevent me from seeing the light?
