I guess a lot of people have heard this, but I wanted to share some of this poem:

"He, who through vast immensity can pierce,
See worlds on worlds comprise one universe,
Observe how system into system runs,
What other planets circle other suns,
...May tell why Heaven has made us as we are."

An Essay On Man, Alexander Pope

The reason I bring it up is that I have been thinking lately about life and its meaning. I must add it isn't something I really care that much about, but if I was going to have a theory, this would be it:

I believe that if there is a purpose to our existence, the ultimate answers lie somewhere in the universe, and not in any spiritual plane. I don't bother trying to think what it could be, other than imagining, but it appeals quite a lot to me. Not just because I love Astronomy, but because it just seems so sensible to me. We KNOW there is so much out there yet to be uncovered, while we can't send spacecraft to some god that doesn't exist. I am not ruling out the possibility of something divine somewhere, but I just don't think it would be anything like the religion that we know. Just my personal opinion.
