i am in constant meditation then
lol
how would you know your meditating right it you cant think about it and you have to put all things aside
i think self-reflecting is better (or is that what it is)
when i try to meditate i fall asleep
Where you do it is important. I've done it on a bed and ended up taking a nap. A lot of times when I meditate I start nodding off to bed...when you start doing this things aren't going so well, because you're not concentrating...you're dosing off. When you do is another important matter. Try it when you don't feel tired and overly distracted. For instance, if you watch a movie and then meditate right afterwards your mind will be thinking about the movie and you won't be able to meditate properly. There are so many factors to take in, such as these.

I'm not entirely sure what the correct way is. Meditation is a tricky subject and I wouldn't trust anyone who said that "blah, blah, blah...is right meditation" (even if the Buddha said it). Probably the best advice is to not depend on anyone for help and instead examine meditation on your own. There's a lot being said on the topic and I'm not saying you shouldn't examine and evaluate what others say, but just don't follow their instructions blindly. For instance, I've studied Zen meditation and I came to the conclusion that it wasn't proper meditation. You might read it and feel the opposite way. It's up to you to decide. In the end you have to even decide if meditation is important. Even in this post I said it was, but who cares what I say. I may be wrong. No one can really tell you what "right meditation" is...you need to explore it yourself. Interestingly enough, I've found that meditation is the act of self-reflection.Originally posted by beepbeep@Jan 14 2004, 07:37 AM

from what i can gather it seems as though i was closer than i guessed when i thought of it as a highly focused state of mind.
it doesn't matter what you focus on. i always either use math or pain, but i think anything as simple as a piece of shattered glass could work, if you just focus on memorizing all the imperfections in the glass, the angles of the break, the glare off of certain edges, find the grain of the glass, all those tiny details that require vast amounts of time to find......... find every last one of them
anything like that would probably work, i've never been able to focus on a physical object, math is what i use most often, and pain works the best...... but any kind of focus would work i think
wow
i meditate and dont know it
