Thread: Can you convince yourself you like someone?

So there's this girl, who is astonishingly gorgeous. She's got sweet sides to her nature, but there's also a lot of bad stuff about her, like immense vanity, she's bitchy as hell, and she's just plain rude sometimes.

I can't really imagine being in a relationship with her, but in order to sleep with her and not feel bad about it, i need to convince myself that a relationship is possible.

Thoughts?

Because then I'll feel bad, she's kind of messed up after her last boyfriend treated her like shit.

Sure it's possible to talk yourself into just about anything. But the question is in this case, why would you want to?

Sounds like a lot more drama than fun to me. Short term gain versus long term pain type thing.

Hahahahaha... okay fair enough. But I would like to posit that the guilt of having sex with her without an emotional attachment would be far easier to deal with than the drama of having sex with her with an emotional attachment.

I'm not seeing too much drama or longterm pain to be honest. Everything passes, good or bad.

So how do I convince myself that a relationship isn't a bad idea?

Just like anything else, focus on her good points and rationalize her bad ones.

Wait, that was a surprisingly female outlook on an otherwise futile relationship, hmmm.

I don't get it. You would feel guilty for sleeping with her knowing that you don't want a relationship and your plan is to convince yourself that you want a relationship just so that you can sleep with her (guilt-free) and then it'll still go nowhere? And somehow this will alleviate any guilt you may feel?

Seems to me that you'd feel more guilty with that plan since it will mess her up more than if you let her know that you don't want anything more than sex.

OR....is it about getting the sex, regardless of how you could feel afterward? Take the guilt later to avoid the guilt now, so to speak?

Would you have to make HER think you want a relationship in order to have sex with her? That's a half-decent reason.
