In a phishing attack, a fraudster spams the Internet with email claiming to be from a reputable financial institution or e-commerce site. The email message urges the recipient to click on a link to update their personal profile or carry out some transaction. The link takes the victim to a fake website designed to look like the real thing. However, any personal or financial information entered is routed directly to the scammer.

I am quite fortunate to have an e-mail address that is almost spam free. But for the past week or so, every day, I've gotten at least one phishing e-mail.

Paypal. Some other random company. And Bank of America! I've never even heard of them.

I fell for the first one, pretending to be Paypal. Fortunately, I typed my password in wrong by accident, then realised. And I've since changed it anyway. And it's made me more security conscious, which is a good thing.

As horrible as they are in themselves, it's the frequency I've been getting them that's really pissing me off. Grrr.

Have a look at where he's from...

And so far I've only received them from banks I don't have an account with, so I haven't come close to falling for it...

Well obviously I could figure that out. But it's not like they advertise for me to open an account.

I have gotten the one from Bank of America before. Had to laugh, as while I do use BoA for my financial doings, they do Not have my e-mail address, or any computer connection to me at all.

I did call them to make sure nothing was wrong with my account, then sent the spam mail to the managment at yahoo, along with an explanation.

Probably some kids in Russia or somewhere far enough away that nothing can be done to them, but I really hate scumbags like that.
Ayuh, not dead yet. Might change that with an S1000RR though
