i know what you mean! it sucks so much. i'd love to be able to ride my bike, because one of my coworkers who used to live right next to me, he used to ride his bike to work. but i can't cause my boyfriend doesn't want me to because he doesn't think it's safe. uhg.

Gas was under a dollar as recently as high school. Them were the days.

Giant Eagle here gives you $.10 off a gallon (up to 30 gallons) for every $50 you spend. For awhile they were the only game in town, but they build the gas discounts into their grocery prices, so you aren't getting a deal.
I don't have too much of a problem with gas prices right now because my income has been rising over the past 3 years at a higher rate than gas prices, but it is preventing me from buying a truck, so there is that.
The thing that annoys me the most are the people who don't understand 1) physics, and 2) personal finance. All these newer and heavier cars get worse fuel mileage, so why do people want their cars to increase in size? Furthermore, buying a car is just a license to start spending money. You have to anticipate these things when you buy a car. Its just as stupid as buying a $300,000 house because you can afford the mortgage, but not the property taxes, utilities, and maintenance. Then again, some consumers are stupid enough to do that too.
You'll be happy to know Big Oil posted yet more record profits, and blamed the gas prices on our refusal to drill up the oil we have.

pssshhhh, it's been 4 dollars in my part of Cali for months. In truckee I hear its about 4.30. Brutal!
Thank God I walk most places and use public transportation to work.

I drive a 4cyl but its got a turbo. so I have to effectively keep my rpms below 2k at all times otherwise my wallet starts crying XD
