Oh, i've just had another thought....

You can't fucking rehome cats who are 13 and 15 years old Noone will want them, all they will see is impending large vets bills. I'd be proper suprised if your Grandma could find anyone to take them on a permanent basis... why the hell would anyone who wants a cat get a 15 year old cat when they can get a kitten?

that sucks dude i'd take them temporarily, but i'm moving in w/my mom in a month, and that's going to equal 3 cats and 3 dogs in a 2br apartment already. i will never part with my pets. you could offer me all the tea in china.

make sure to seek out ALL your options. call ur local humane society, they often have lists of no-kill shelters and foster homes. try craigs list. try everything. pm me if u want.

'Cause I'm that fool that broke the key- I'm unlockable so don't check me- I got weight on my shoulders and things on my mind- The sky is falling and I'm falling behind... No shame in my game just par for the path- I try to hone my craft because at hand's the task- But I find I'm not playing with a full deck- I'm up to my neck like Toulouse Lautrec

I would definitely ask around to see if someone would take care of them meanwhile. As long as you foot the food & vet bills and you set a time limit, that may work. Otherwise, bringing old cats into a shelter is basically dooming them to death - either euthanized because everyone wants kittens or living in those awful cages for years. Either way, good luck! And I hope you figure this out so you can keep them.

I don't think she'd be able to get them into a shelter. (Unless, like I said, she can come to an arrangement with one to look after them temporarily if she pays for their food) but if her grandma tried to get rid of them to a shelter, from my experience, they wouldn't take them.
The cats aren't homeless or in danger... you (or your mom) CHOSE to have them, your Gran CHOSE to take them in...therefore THEIR problem.

It seems silly but I'm so upset right now about this. It was always kind of understood that whenever I had my own place, I would take my cats unless my mom wanted to keep them. But she just dropped them off at my grandma's house and was like "you take care of them", but my grandma can't take care of three cats because 1) she's old and 2) her husband has been having tons of surgeries and medical issues and she has a hard enough time trying to take care of him. She just doesn't have the means to take care of them.

Apparently my mom told her I would take them when I came up to visit (WTF?) but I can't because I live with my dad in an apartment and we're not allowed to have pets. My grandma says she's going to keep them until summer and after that she's going to find homes for them.

I grew up with these cats. One is like 15 years old, another 13, and they're in perfectly healthy shape, they're perfectly well behaved, they don't climb on counters or fuck up furniture or anything. But they're going to be probably separated and sent to different homes which depresses me because they've always lived together and just the fact that when I do get my own place I can't be like "can i have my cats now?" I wish I could move out right now and go get them.

I like this ad troll's strategy. It's almost subliminal advertising!
