Thread: Interrogation by the KGB!!!

I can relate. Except usually when my mum and I haven't spoken for a while, she decides that I need to hear about every morsel of miserable news possible. Seriously, the amount of times she's told me about people dying who I've never even heard of is pretty ridiculous.

She's alright really though.

It's quite the opposite for my relationship with my mom. I'm the one giving her the third degree. Of course, I am the more responsible of the two.

LOL... my mom will give me advice, that's what she'll do. She'll only ask questions that are reasonable to ask, generally, but when it comes to telling me not to take the subway at midnight because it's dangerous or to not stay in Central Park past dark even if it's 5pm and there's still babies in strollers around, she's right there repeating herself multiple times and giving herself a heart attack. Trouble is, sometimes her worrying rubs off on me.

could be worse. i had a dream last night that my dad was a robot and i was battling him. all he ever talks to me about is whether or not i'm getting a better job. you know, cuz i live in job land. and that's all there is to my life. why don't I strap on my job helmet and squeeze down into a job cannon and fire off into jobland where jobs grow on little jobbies.

heh. my mum has recently retired, so when i talk to her she finds really bizarre things to get super stressed about. she is a stress head, so now that she doesn't have a job, she applies her stress skills to...finding hotels for holidays, complaining about the rabbits eating her seedlings, deciding on new phone plans...good times.

Yeah, I tread carefully with mom, too. She annoys me really bad even though she is not a terrible person. Any little thing I say about me or what I'm doing that she thinks is good, she acts like she taught me how to do it and everything comes from her like some wise earth mother, when really.... that's not the case. The latest thing I have to look forward to is dealing with her wanting my kid to spend a couple weeks with her in the summer but inform her that the only way I'm cool with that is if they don't under any circumstances spread the fantastic news about Jesus. She's going to love that!!!! She's pretty much evangelical fundamentalist christian and although she knows I'm not christian I think she thinks it's just a phase so now I have to reveal myself as the irreligious athiest I am on the inside. I could go on...

Thanks, I just get stressed when she starts the question crap. I know I should just stfu and enjoy the time she has left because she's 80 now and face it......may not be around too much longer.

I think I might have gotten thru to her accidentally the other day, she goes "Oh I been meaning to ask you this" and I said "Oh no not again!" She goes what was that supposed to mean, and I used the classic Oh nothing!

I swear she sits around all day, dreaming up shit to ask me!

heeh my moms cool, all she wanted to know is when am i coming to visit.. and if i talked to my brother recently..and what kinda beer i'm drinking these days. hahaha

My mom always asks me the same questions over and over again, also if I don't call her every other day she freaks. One time my phone died and she did a full hour on how something could've happened, it was extremely irresponsible for me to let it happen. Now I love my mom, but I tend to always feel like a gigantic disappointment to her, so I try to keep all the conversations light and very non-serious. As soon as we enter "important" conversation territory about my life, it becomes bad news bears.

Yeah, mine does the same thing. Really gets annoying, too, especially since I'm the one who has to call her. Then listen to a diatribe about something, usually about how I'm spending MY money.

OK, I gotta add this. Just popped up today, we were talking about my upcoming China trip. She asks, just out of the blue....."If you die over there, how do I get your body back?"

I mean, what the fuck???? How would you dream up something like that?? I was stunned for a moment, several moments actually, then said "Well, I'll wear a tag on my toe that says if found dead, please ship COD to......... This baffled me. Methinks she has too much time on her hands.
