Just watched the trailer for Al Gore's documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth' which is all about climate change and global warming. Now, watching it there, you can easily tell that they're really hyping it up and trying to dramatize the issue as much as possible, but one thing they're not doing is lying. Check out the trailer and see what you think....

Try not to slag it off just because you don't like Al Gore.

    EDIT: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount_cl...ttruth/trailer/
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

Thanks. After watching the trailer, I will make the following comments.

The trailer talks about the effects of global warming. It also states that the scientific community believes that humans are the cause of global warming. This is were the error begins. Basically, it is a huge overstatement. The producers of the film are taking something that is a cause and basically blowing it up to be the sole source of the problem. Strong evidence suggests that the sun activity is playing a large factor in the current climate crisis. I think the following put it best (I found in on Wiki will looking for more info on solar variation theory):

"The sun has been at its strongest over the past 60 years and may now be affecting global temperatures... the brighter sun and higher levels of so-called "greenhouse gases" both contributed to the change in the Earth's temperature, but it was impossible to say which had the greater impact." - Sami Solanki, the director of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research

Uhuh. That said though, the human impact on climate change is very real and hopefully films like this will go some way to making people actually take notice. Such a shame that money is apparently more important than the planet. Something as intangiable as wealth is somehow considered ore important than life itself. Shame.

    Epic bump.

I just saw this. I don't understand why anyone protests against facts based on science. My ecofriendly rampage has just been turned up a notch.
Syco- "The Empress is the latter leg of this triad, representing the physical body and the material world. From her comes all the pleasure of the senses and the abundance of life in all its forms. She is also the mother archetype, and through her we get a first glimpse of the power of love in the Tarot." I think this is all representative of awesomly large tits, no?

    I couldn't agree more, comrade.

I just watched The Age of Stupid. Pretty good, but far too smug to convince any of the 'But we love driving and industry and flying and pollution so we'll clutch on to any old raggedy bullshit no matter how absurd as long as we don't have to change how we do things,' crowd.

That's what I've been sayig for years now. It's difficult to change people's attitudes when they're comfortable. It's just not going to happen unless there's a major jolt, like a war or an environmental catastrophe.
