    You know how Willy Wonka found the Ooma-Loompas during his extensive search around the world for new candy flavours? It's a similar situation with Stefani's Japanese girls. She was searching for inspiration for the 'next big cool thing' (read: she was looking for something to rip off) in Japan where she discovered these dancing girls. They were Ronin, wandering Samurai without a lord - so she offered them all the Pocky they could ever eat in return for undying loyalty in an oath of fealty. The rest is history.
