Rage Against The Machine Xmas #1

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS NO.1 - OFFICIAL 'BACK UP' GROUP | Facebook

couldn't find anything in a very brief SB search, but a very worthwhile cause..

(if you don't want to click the link essentially it's a campaign to get 'rage against the machine - killing in the name' to number one in the popular musique charts for the christmas week (this week) instead of the now-standard x-factor ballad, similar efforts have been made for the past few years but this seems to be doing a much better job!)

so yeah UK only as far as i can tell but if anyone has the free $$/inclination to make a musical xmas purchase - apparently ratm are supporting this and donating proceeds to charity, etc (check out their excellent live performance on bbc radio 5 from 9am yesterday) - definitely the best choice! ::

I bought two from amazon, at 29p each. The media is all over this, Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Paul McCartney have spoken out, along with Zack dela Rocha and Tom Morello. Currently Rage are winning, with only two days left to go.

    Wouldn't it be nice?

Is Christmas #1 really that big of a deal?

(Not trying to sound snooty; I don't think America's got the same deal)

Even with the decline in the singles chart, the UK Christmas Number 1 is still generally the biggest single of the year but it's usually taken by some horrible cheese or a novelty song anyway so not too big a deal.

It's a good Christmas for Sony BMG anyway because they've got both the X Factor guy and Rage Against the Machine. Win-win!

It's worth getting RATM to number 1 just to piss off Simon Cowell though.

As for the radio performance, the 5Live producer simply didn't do his/her homework obviously. If he/she did then they would've seen how RATM have been rather outspoken when it comes to censorship (remember than PMRC thing?) and they're intelligent enough to understand the irony in being asked to censor out 'fuck you I won't do what you tell me' from their song. Come on BBC! Sort it out.

The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

I ran into Tom Morello at one of my local bars last night when I was out drinking with some friends.

'Cause I'm that fool that broke the key- I'm unlockable so don't check me- I got weight on my shoulders and things on my mind- The sky is falling and I'm falling behind... No shame in my game just par for the path- I try to hone my craft because at hand's the task- But I find I'm not playing with a full deck- I'm up to my neck like Toulouse Lautrec

stuff is just stuff. your emotional health is much more important. holding raging anger in is more harmful than your faggot-assed tv that probably deserves to get its ass beat anyway.

Syco- "The Empress is the latter leg of this triad, representing the physical body and the material world. From her comes all the pleasure of the senses and the abundance of life in all its forms. She is also the mother archetype, and through her we get a first glimpse of the power of love in the Tarot." I think this is all representative of awesomly large tits, no?
