    Peter Steele RIP

Peter Steele Of Type O Negative: A Remembrance - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News

There were probably only a few people who really knew Steele. Devout Type O Negative fans surely empathized with his pain and appreciated his knack for writing songs that were dark as night, heavy as a pile of bricks and — in their way — as catchy as anything by Justin Timberlake. And Steele's deep, baritone vocals were one of a kind in metal. But as for what was really going on inside Steele's head, that's something he took to his grave. His personal life is largely a mystery.
    Epic Sadness can now ensue.
The gay community embraced me just as I was working through my own sexuality and gave me a safe place to deal with that. One night someone came to my father when I was playing at a bar called Mr. Henry's, and said, "How could you bring yur daughter to a gay club?" And he replied, "Well, she won't be going home with any of you!" --Tori Amos: Piece by Piece, Tori Amos

    I don't wanna be...I don't wanna be me.

I'm not gutted by his death like I was with other musicians but Type O Negative were a decent band and it's sad that he had to go. Funnily enough, two days ago I was watching some Type-O videos on youtube and watched the Jerry Springer episode Pete Steele was in and then a couple of days later he died. Weird.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler
