The best part about having friends isn't in knowing that they have your back but rather in knowing that you have theirs.

I don`t get the chance to read as much at the moment, but I have managed to read a couple Neil Stephenson books. Snowcrash and Zodiac were both pretty good. Also interesting that the author has not chosen to specialise in a particular genre. Zodiac is a bit of mystery/thriller while Snowcrash is definitely Science Fiction.
I also read the Jim Chee mysteries a while ago. I can not remember the author at the moment though. Also pretty good, as mysteries go.
Ayuh, not dead yet. Might change that with an S1000RR though
Pratchett, (he did a good one with Gaiman called Good Omens),
Anne McCaffrey (the Dragons of Pern series, the freedom series and killashandra),
Raymond E. Feist (riftwar saga, Serpentwar saga---Magician is the best book i have ever read),
Ian Fleming (the books are better than the films, except maybe he early films with connery, which are massive)
LOTR...nuff siad
Dean Koontz - One door away from heaven

Definitely Pratchett, also Douglas Addams, Minette Walters, Patricia Cornwall, Clive Barker, Fay Weldon, and PD James.
