I thought the whole purpose of school was to LEARN.

We do get dances, I had my Leavers dance last July. I think you'll find that some schools are starting cheerleading, and if you want it, you could always suggest it.

Do you have a school council? Go ask for stuff there

and Pop Idol is NOT something to brag about.

Who knows....do we have more freedom than you people?
homecoming is pretty cool....actually its pretty funny. At our school they tried banning dirty dancing, cus they found condoms on the floor and other stuff.

you people have bank holiday or such sort we dont + the holidays where kids get off vary for schools here.

you people have 2 weeks of springbreak...we dont!
but then we also get off for snow days, inservice days, and all sorts of other things haha sorry couldnt help but rub that in

Oh and the uniforms mostly private schools here have uniforms...atleast where i live they do.

Some dances here are held to raise money.

you guys dont have a prom what do you peeps have instead...or is that leavers dance thing instead of it?

pop idol/american idol is the lamest thing ever!

We have proms at my british school, so I don't know where the "no prom" conception comes from.

Infact, you have two proms. One at age 16, to indicate the end of compulsory education. Then, one at 18 at the end of your schooling, before going to university.

Well it depends on what american schools ur talkin about. My school dosent worry about that kind of stuff. ITs mostly the education of it all. And my schools a College prep school.

So i think its mostly American public High Schools that dont teach anything and have all that stuff.

My school has all that stuff and provides a very good Education, They are alot of fun, I bet if you went to the school board and showed them the money to throw the dance they would let you have one. Just becasue a school has dances and trips and dun stuff doesn't mean they are not education oriented, 23 out of 26 kids on the varsity football team are honor students (3.25 or greater out of 4). The same is true for schools that don't have dances and such, that doesn't mean the education is better. Jadeeji (whatever the fuck it is) you need to stop making such stupid and baseless generalizations.
They say I need to be more in touch with my feminine side, to tell you the truth if I had a feminine side I'd be touching it all the time

I understand where you would say thats screwed up and thats how it is in philly. Ilike my high school- it's the biggest school in this state. And they are more concernd wheather or not the lacross team makes finals more so then the kids passing. So all the money goes to these dances and shit.

Its diffrent with Charter schools in my city. We only get a certain amoutn of money at the begining of the year and we have to budget it out or beg rich epople for money. ANd like I said this is for schools within my state. Lots of there schools are unsafe and lack education.
