Is this a rant? It should be moved to rant of the day otherwise I'm not really sure what your point of this thread is.

not by me, by the school...
my wife has ONE class left to get her associate's degree...the class was CANCELLED by the school due to "lack of interest and signups"
There is an alternative class but it doesn't meet until spring. My wife is over her 99 hour thing for financial aid so we're going to have to pay cash for her to take one class. It's really annoying.
On top of that, I tried to sign up to test out of keyboarding because I'm on MY last semester and didn't get into any of the current offerings. I got my sciences, my speech, my computer apps, but now I have to use CLEP to get my keyboarding credit. Never mind that eight of the classes I've taken in the last two years SHOULD be a substitute for it...
I can't wait to be done with this silly community college so I can move onto my bachelor's at Baylor.
I've been called a lot of things, but never funny.

This is less of a rant as a wake-up call to see if others are having the same issue with their schools, a dropped class preventing one from graduating in good time. If it was a rant of the day, it would likely be over a piddly bullshit topic like who cut me off while I was trying to park at a market.
As far as bumping threads, define old. 90 days or less? Not old. Last year? Yeah, that's old. So what's your point?

Start making a stink. There's certainly a chance that some other class could "meet the requirements" if they want. In college, I was faced with a similar situation; I argued with the appropriate people, and they said that other classes could substitute in.
Start yelling. Make sure to use key phrases like "alumni donations" and stuff like that.
"Hic puer est stultissimus omnium."
lol Alumni donations. I do agree though. Your wife should make a "stink". That's bullshit especially if she has aid money that would pay for the course.
I haven't had a class i needed dropped yet or anything like that but i also don't have classed i need to take in order to graduate that can't be substituted with something else. The only thing that has slightly changed that makes me very sad is my history senior seminar. The topics are at the instructors discretion and they all suck for next semester so i wont graduate in time but i already knew that. I dont think that will affect my school moneys too much.

my sister had something similar happen, but i think they were as eager to get rid of her, as she was to leave, and they rearranged some things, and let her graduate without having to wait for the last class.
Making a fuss is probably the best thing to do.

I like how the class is about retailing. It's a stupid cakewalk class, but it's a required course for a marketing degree, even though her focus is on social networking. They have college classes for that now, just not at THIS college. She has an appointment tomorrow to deal with it, I hope they make some sort of adjustment so we're not out cash we don't really have budgeted for this sort of thing.

Make sure she brings up budget issues and money woes at the meeting. It helps, especially if not getting that extra class would mean being forced to stay for another semester.
Also, I think it's funny that her focus is on social networking. It makes me think that she has a minor in Facebook. Not trying to insult her or anything like that, though; social networking is the Next Big Thing (or is it the Current Big Thing?), she's smart for focusing on it. That'll look good on a resume.
