I went straight to college after high school. However when I went to college there were several older people there with me. I'm assuming you are not looking for the sorority experience.![]()
The reality is that I found the older students did far better. They had a taste of the world and took college more seriously. It wasn't just an extension of high school. They had a goal and did the work to make it happen.
Go with what you want to do - not with what someone thinks you should do. If you have the long term goal of working in nutrition then I think you should pursue it. You'll be much happier and fulfilled doing that then being stuck behind a ledger dealing with numbers. Also, while the business world should correct itself during your years of study, the reality is that there is and will be a much greater demand for health professionals. The obesity rate in the western world is astounding and you will be kept busy.
I can completely see you working in some kind of clinic as a nutritionist etc. Look into your options. Talk to the career counselors at your local colleges to get an idea of what you need to do. Do the research. Also check about student loans and try to finance as little as possible. Long term debt sucks.
I'm excited for you.I think this could be a really excellent thing.
