Thread: job descriptions

Many times companies will have jobs open that they do not advertise. Many times, those jobs get offered to people who- like you- have the connections necessary to hear about the jobs. Sometimes they don't want any old person off the street applying, or they don't want to be bombarded with 1,000s of resumes, etc. Or maybe the position literally just opened up a week ago and your timing was great. In any case, if they're interviewing you for it, it probably exists.

hah! thanks tia. i found the exact same thing and it just frustrated me. i was hoping for something a little more concentrated on my field.

BUT the interview went reeeeally well. i'm really crossing my fingers that this turns into something awesome. sent my thank you cards out, emails, etc...
and the job turns out to be an entry level position that works with all the departments of the CRO. so i'd learn all about the drug trial process and have varying degrees of responsibility with all the departments. and HR went over a few career paths i could take after getting my feet wet. that's a good sign, right? and she told me about their "robust" benefits, team building picnics.... i'm really stoked about this.

i'll post if anything comes of it. they said they'd let me know next week.

Oh awesome! It's always a good thing if upward mobility is possible. And a good office environment does a lot to make up for low pay/entry level.

yeah, when she asked about expected salary, i said 15/hr. then she asked what i made at my previous job, which was 15/hr. that was the only iffy vibe i got, and i smoothed it out by saying "well, i'm pretty frugal, but living in this area IS expensive. i'm not looking to get into a new car or anything... but i probably shouldn't tell YOU guys that" and they lol'd and i was like *score*

i'm peeing my pants waiting to hear. my dad thinks that since the CEO referred me, i show up "with pixie dust"... but i'm also not a mong bum. talked about six sig, advancing my edu, made em laugh, asked EXCELLENT questions... the anticipation is KILLING me.

omg i wore black pumps, black pedal pushers, a black top, and a BRIGHT yellow purse which also matched my manicure. i mean, i looked GOOD. haha. it was juuust the right amount of understated flare.

had the 2nd interview today. and it was with the CEO. first they told me it would be panel... then i get there and it's the CEO.

he urged me to pursue larger CROs as a data manager, not the entry level position i interviewed for. i think it's cuz i asked for too much $$ for that position. and they're not hiring for other positions.

but he said the final decision isn't up to him and he was really helpful in understanding the workings of the CRO... so i dunno. i find out later this week if they want to make an offer.

for the time being, i have this stupid contract job again since it's AE season for bennies. so not excited. but at least it's the 15clams i wanted, and it'll be for at least 3mos. can't argue that.

i got it!

technically it's temp to perm, but the convo went a little like "unfortunately you'll have to take a slight paycut from [company i contract with], however, after 60 days we review your work/progress and we'd sign you on perm with a substantial raise- greater than what you initially asked for"

OMGWTF!

add to that tuition reimbursement, solid bennies, ot, pto, normal scheduling, AND it's in my field WITH a company that's expanding!!!???
