For it to truly run smoothly you need 1gb or more. I don't deny that vista is a modern OS, and thus requires a modern computer. And lets face it, 1gb RAM is pretty standard these days, low in some cases.
There's lots of things that I like about vista, but the main thing that makes me stick with it is that when i have to use XP for whatever reason, e.g. on someone else's computer, I feel held back and crippled.

reasonably new computer, 2x 20 inch monitors, INTEL Q6700, 4 gig RAM (upgrading to 8 when i get my summer job back), 320 gig hard drive, NVIDIA 8800GT (hopefully SLI after summer job)...
yes, i know i should have shrunk the pic, i don't care at the moment :-) and i'm going to update my bios soon, right now it's underclocking the front side bus and the RAM (was seriously undervolting the RAM, but i fixed that, but the BIOS update should make it better)
