    Hotmail Phishing Attack

Microsoft confirms phishers stole 'several thousand' Hotmail passwords

Hacker leaks thousands of Hotmail passwords, says site

    I don't have a hotmail account - they suck.

However for those that do, you should go in and change your password if you use one actively or if it has any personal information. They estimate that as many as 100,000 accounts could be affected.

I don't really see how this is news. I started to change my passwords, then I realized that this was a phishing attack. Nothing to see here, move along. (Unless you really don't know that people want to access your account, and will try and get you to visit fake login pages to steal your credentials)

Sadly, yes this so common place now and it is only news if customers of the big boys get scammed.

It's become so easy to get access and email now that there are still a healthy number of people who are naive to the nefarious side of the web world.

Well it's news because personal information got leaked on the net, for the public to see. When other personal data gets out, such as BNP membership lists, NHS details, shit like that, it becomes news, because it's information the public are concerned by.

...which is after all what news is.
