would it upset you to the end of the earth if you knew that tool was in vista already?

I never installed Vista on my desktop because I was satisfied with XP and had experienced Vista on my laptop enough. I didn't have any real problems with vista. Anyway, I bought a real nice new monitor and was having troubles getting it calibrated right in XP, when my friend mentioned to me the RC Testing for windows 7. I decided to give it a try right then and there. I installed it as a secondary boot option on an empty hard drive.

I must say, I was impressed. The install was easy. I didn't even have to install my chipset drivers for the integrated ethernet to work, and I could go to max resolution (1920x1080 (tv monitor)) without installing my video card drivers. Everything works for it. And the display is so amazing I freakin love it. I love how you can preview what the screen will look like if you move a window on top or if that were to be the only window showing.

Not only all of that, but having Windows 7 allows me to use more than 3.5 gigs of ram, which we all know is fun.

10 Reasons to Stick with Windows XP Until Windows 7 Service Pack 1

For the Linux souls among us, I've got a friend who swears by Ubuntu- Ubuntu Home Page | Ubuntu

I've seen it and it looks pretty slick, easy to install and the price is right at $0 - gotta luv open source! I haven't checked it out myself though....

Snow Leopard shouldn't have been a stand-alone release.

Nope, because I use XP Home on my desktop. Don't have it. Can't get it. No sense going to Vista if I can go 7.

Good reasons to wait. Which is good when money is at a premium. And we still have to spend $319 or so to get a license key for the wife's computer which is running 7 Ultimate RC. Or something like that, we may get away with buying a second hard drive and using an OEM version for $189. We've got 'til March I guess to figure that one out. It annoys me to have to do it, but the license key on this copy is only good until then.
I've been called a lot of things, but never funny.

If you have a .edu email address, you can get Windows 7 for $30. Just thought I'd put that one out there. I'm switching over from Vista on one computer. My other computer has XP Pro, and you'll have to pry that one from my cold, dead hands.
