    Windows 7

Anyone care? I for one do not and am only making this topic out of boredom. But seriously, who cares? Windows Vista is shite. 99% of people don't give a shit if searching is now super-streamlined or file-storage has been tweaked to be more efficient. Such things are not really important for playing World of Warcraft or wanking to Brazilian fart porn.
The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes... Adolf Hitler

Windows 7 from what i've read is comparable to windows xp in benchmarks and in some cases is faster, and has all the improvements of vista. Its essentially what vista should have been. I probably wont upgrade right away, but i will when SP1 comes out.

Vista was a cluster-fuck from the git go. I hope Microsoft realizes now that when buyers have real options such as the Mac or a relatively stable environment like XP, no amount of fancy marketing is going to get them to change for change' sake. I hope they fired the entire team responsible for putting that POS on the market.

I've bought several PC's that came with Vista and reinstalled XP on all of them.

(Wise) lack of corporate and gamer adoption of Vista doomed it to failure. We'll see if Windows 7 brings anything useful to the table. Talk to me in a year...

I've heard really good things about 7. Fast, reliable, innovative. And well, it had better be, or else Microsoft is fucked.

Yeh but i bet those same things were said about Windows 98 and they were certainly said about Vista which we all know is poo. I certainly ain't gonna be buying it but if I get a new PC (unlikely) then no doubt it'll have Windows 7.

I've been using the beta version of Windows 7 on my computer and other than a few compatibility problems at the beginning I like it pretty decently. The interface seems to look closer to a Mac OS X look, sort of what Vista was attempting to do but better executed. The control panel is still arranged similar to Vista and a few more "advanced" features you have to poke around a bunch to figure out how to do them, but I still am leaning more towards liking Windows 7 then hating it.

my boyfriend has been using the beta version of Windows 7 for work, and he says he loves it. Although he's expecting lots of problems at work today when everyone is trying to load Windows 7 on to their computers.

Snipping Tool. Case Closed. And the entire reason I am choosing to purchase a new computer rather than upgrade the one I have in order to get half price on the OEM version of 7 Pro.

If you don't know what the new Windows 7 Snipping Tool is, think about this: you see anything static on your computer like an image, a block of text, an error message, whatever. You open the Snipping Tool, you cut around it with your mouse, and you save it as a fucking JPEG or whatever. Badass. It will add whole new dimensions to internet drama, message boards, instant messengers, and more. The implications of this small feature are immense. It's like having Photoshop running in the background at all times without the hogging of resources. Fuckin A, man!

So you want Windows 7 primarily because it has a slightly fancier print-screen? I'm alright with just pressing print-screen, paste and crop cheers.

Uh, let me think about this for a second...

    Yes.

Of course there are other reasons but after playing on the wife's computer I would have to say it was the most enjoyable part. Not crashing, faster startup and shutdown times, and compatibility with every program either of us uses is also brilliant and worth the entry fee.

Granted, the computer I use now is an eMachines with XP Home. Anything is really an upgrade from it.

my old man managed turning roughly 6000 corporate pcs over to 7... i'm waiting to hear feedback on that.

i also agree that vista is a queef.
'Cause I'm that fool that broke the key- I'm unlockable so don't check me- I got weight on my shoulders and things on my mind- The sky is falling and I'm falling behind... No shame in my game just par for the path- I try to hone my craft because at hand's the task- But I find I'm not playing with a full deck- I'm up to my neck like Toulouse Lautrec
